Worse NHL olympics ever?

The key was that Canada, really, was quite a bit better than the rest. 3 goals against in 6 games is hard to argue against.

Three goals against all tournament? Come on, they need to need to allow multiple team Canada's to challenge the top one.

Canada is like the old school trapping Devils, it's boring for everyone else because Canada is so suffocating defensively but it's great to watch as a Canadian

Except Canada didn't trap anyone. They dominated the puck all over the ice. I don't think I've ever seen a team have more offensive zone time than Canada did in this tournament.

This is the most dominant a team has been in Olympics. I guess you can say it was a bit boring because no one other than Latvia was even close.

Yes, it definitely was a very boring game. Thanks to the swedes mostly, they played like they had a hangover.

lol at canadians hyped over this . do you realize that hockey players in US are subpart atethles ?
just imagine if hockey would be the most popular sport in us :

Peterson-Woods-Lebron James
Brady-Watt
Wilfork

The 1998 final was a snorer.

You can say it wasn't entertaining...but no effort?

Hilarious attempt to undermine Canada's dominating performance in this one that was all about effort.

Pure domination from beginning to end.

A lesson in how to win on international ice.

Not surprised it was boring. Lessons usually are.

It was perfect game execution that's what a picture perfect defensive system looks like. It's not boring. It's beautiful. Canada locked down the 2 best other teams in the tournament. You can't deny it.

Canada was too good defensively. Canada didnt play a trap style.... It's called back checking. The defense core was the best ever assembled easily.

'Zero effort'

I'm sure there was some kind of effort by Canada to keep Sweden to 0 scoring chances in the 3rd period, despite leading 2-0

Beautiful hockey, but not very dramatic. If you're a hockey fan, you have to appreciate the level of talent that was going on out there.

I could understand why non-Canadian fans wouldn't like it, though.

On a sidenote, no one is trying to take away your gold medal Canada, but you have to admit. These games were a lot more dry. What I don't understand is why we don't give better teams harder schedules. Competition is really starting to become a big issue and no it isn't necessarily because "yew are tew gewd." I didn't particularly enjoy watching the US thrash Slovenia. Some sort of realignment has to be done, because I really am starting to dislike the olympics and the only people who like it are the winners.

I think many people in the TV viewing audience (especially in America) wanted the final game to be between two nations that don't like each other. I know people who watched the U.S./Russia game on the edge of their seats but these people didn't care anymore after Russia was eliminated. I think you would have trouble finding a lot of non-hockey fans who care that the U.S. lost to Finland. And yes many Americans indeed would not know where Finland is located in the world and they certainly don't know enough about that nation to hate them.

Once Sweden and Finland get decimated by injuries the tournament was over.
They needed to be full strength to compete and don't have the player pool to replace people like Koivu or Zetterberg.

When your #1 center in the gold medal game is Marcus Kruger, you're in trouble.

I thought the first period was pretty entertaining. Lots of odd man rushes both ways and point blank chances. By the second period when Canada had the lead, they were dominant, and the game got much less exciting.

That's what happens when one team pretty much just won't get scored on and takes the lead.
