I have watched this tournament every year since Tsn got exclusive rights 31 years ago. Anyone else that has watched it every year? TSN are the pioneers of this tourney and made it everything it is today. Great job TSN. There isn’t a better hockey tournament on the planet.

Please list all the great Canadian and American prospects that were selected in the 2020 draft, who had more points than Amirov.

What's this about now?
A draft is a crap shoot, especially the later you go. Nothing wrong with prioritizing the country that produces the largest number of and best hockey players in the world.
It's no different than looking at say Clemson in NCAA when looking for football talent. You know those kids come from a great program, if it's close between two players, go with the kid you know came up in the solid system.
Not sure what any tweets have to do with this topic though. Feel free to expand your thought process or better yet dont waste people's times with your interest in me and just send a PM or hit me up on twitter. Happy to discuss any unrelated topics with you.
Dubie hired a top end Russian scout who has in turn hired 3 guys under him to cover most but not all of Europe ... I wonder how long it is before Ari tenders his resignation? Ari was Babs guy. But it seems post Hunter, Dubie has turned against good ole Ontario boys who for years have ruled da league. It is not all about stats and analytics. Hockey is won on da ice not in a spreadsheet.

It’s a different game now. At one time our prospects were better because they were brought up and trained the Canadian hockey way of tough and drop the gloves and dump&chase and grind and hit everything,finish every check, and they always had the scoring too.
It doesn’t matter anymore because its all skill and knowing the line not to go over on hits and the games are called different by the refs. So we changed and have as much skill or more than any team in the tournament every year now without being thuggs. Canadian hockey is the best model in the world and has shown to be very adaptable to whatever rule changes or ways of calling games over the years.
Oh yeah our players are the best

That one is a classic that polarized us that they were out to get us lol. It’s still true today, they hate us because we are the best. Russia had a bunch of championships pre-tsn and pre- official tournament. We have 5 more than Russia now and likely 6 more after tonight. 18 championships now. Russia hated us so much then because we were knocking them off their pedestal. Haha this tournament is so cool and becoming historic.
Edit Russia has 13 championships.

Canada has dummied this tournament so far and many of those kids haven't been able to play for a long time. The Finns and Russians both looked foolish against Canada.

Amirov had 0 in the game that mattered.
Deciding on a player to draft isn't about oh he put up a bunch of points against Switzerland and Austria. I would go with kids who play winning hockey.
This can be taken to the Leafs roster. If you were to compare Columbus to the Leafs you would says Leafs have all these guys who put up tons of points, so Leafs have the "better players". That's awesome. But then when it gets to big boy hockey time, suddenly those same players do basically nothing 5 on 5 and get shutout in the deciding game. I would prefer the players that play winning hockey.
I’m impressed with Leafs brass and the kids. We have drafted well last 2 years. 2017 to me is a wash.
If robertsson played he would have been top 4 in scoring
We have Amirov considering his first wjc looked solid. Stutzle Paterka and Zegras all played last year. Amirov will hit it out of the park next year

He still likes guys from the Soo. Would like to see him check out players from other OHL teams. Then maybe expand to WHL and the Q.
We'll see how it all plays out. Maybe those Euros will all be studs and just stubbed their toes against Canada.
Levi, Cozens, Krebs and Newhook OMG these are big time players and they are all Canadian ... I wish we had a couple of them on Leafs ... maybe we can swiddle someone ... i mean IMPACT players who are all difference makers

Byfield, the only 2020 Canadian or American drafted player, with more points than Amirov in this tournament, also had zero points in that game. Guess he’s a bust too!!!
Here you are in the WJC thread, complaining about our draft pick, that we should have picked a better Canadian/American and you can’t mention one who has had the better performance in the WJC. Try again. Who is the better Canadian/American in the WJC, that we should have picked?

That is because his uncle gave him a job in da Soo outta brock ... people think he is a wonder boy but really he only got a shot due to family ... he wasn't a Scotty come from nowhere after getting tomacked in jr canadian A game

Yes games are won and lost on da ice in games that matter not in a backroom spreadsheet based on points in meaningless games

I don't really have any problems with our 2020 draft, we mostly stuck to leagues that are playing and the majority of our prospects taken look to be having positive development seasons.
I do think we have too much sameness in our prospect pool overall though.

Say what you want about drafting all Canadian players we are the best in the world and this tournament is why we are. We were really dominating years ago and teams from other countries worked their arses off year after year so they could compete with us and not be embarrassed. Then they catch up and can play with us and then they can beat us in this tournament. Then our superiority in our sport gets questioned. Then hockey Canada focuses more on skills development in our country and here we are today watching teams that couldn’t hold a candle to us right thete with us for this championship.
Its been so very impressive the extent to which this tournament has single handedly brought the skill of the game to whete it is world wide and flourishing and getting better every year.
Nobody wanted to lose on the world stage and Tsn put the game on the world stage every year in this holiday tradition for every hockey country.
Tsn has made hockey a superior game that we see now. Pretty darn awesome! World class players cone from every country that competes in this tournament now.
Best thing is we are still the best at it but we can’t stop improving
