and Martin St Louis was like 5'6'' which gave hope to every short parent of a short kid playing minor hockey but just because the odd very short or very light player makes it doesn't mean they all will
The league is trending shorter. 6 of the top 10 picks this year are listed at 5'11 or under

do you guys enjoy living in an echo chamber? Plenty of people on this board with dumb opinions but to block someone over comments on a message board? Lol
It isn't so much opinion. There are a lot of posters I don't agree with but they make reasonable arguments etc... It's the posters who are here to be a character, or have a shtick, and their posts that I can do without.

Abramov's creativity even just carrying the puck is fun to see. Amirov stopped on a great chance.

nice way of putting it , lol

according to HockeyDB 4 are listed at 5'11'' , only 2 are below that and one of them is listed at almost 190 lbs so it's hardly a group of 5'9'' - 160ish pounders dominating the top of the draft

there's always been quality shorter/lighter players , i just don't believe having the majority of your roster being on the small size is a recipe for success

funny thing is how our board used to laugh when the Habs used to have a collection of smurfs and now it's the smaller the better , lol

Hienola made a nice play and then just skated himself into traffic, and just centered it as a result.

And the year before only 2 of the top 10 was 5'11 or under.
And then 5 of the next 10 were 5'11 or under. One being 5'7. The point is the 1st round used to be mostly guys 6'1 or bigger and guys that were like 5'9 weren't being taken till the later rounds or undrafted. Teams aren't overlooking small players anymore because they're getting burned by so many small players becoming stars.

The Finnish leafs and Abramov had pretty solid periods.

Amirov though.. too much watching. Looked hesitant to engage in puck battles. I'd like to see him feed off Abramov's energy a bit and start using his feet. Too much puck watching.

I used to be one of those people lol. But those small Habs teams back then used to give the Bruins fits and usually made it pretty deep into the playoffs. Those Habs teams also never really had any superstar level players either like a Braden Point for example.

The league is definitely trending smaller though. Lots of teams have guys that are around 5'9. That wasn't the case 15 years ago. Even the bruins had three 5'9 players last year. 2 of them being D men.
