Yeah they can all shoot, but I think most of them have the pass-first mentality. Maybe all of them minus Kucherov. I am really hoping we go for a playmaker over a scorer this year. I think we need to prioritize players who drive possession and make those around them better.

This is why I like Lafreniere as the #1 player in this draft. If you ask me who in this draft elevates the players they play with most, it is without a doubt Lafreniere. Does not matter to me that he is a winger. This is what I think the Wings need to prioritize in this upcoming draft.
Yeah would be amazing to have Lafreniere feeding Mantha, have to say.

Don't want to compare him to Rantanen because I honestly never get to watch Colorado. But I think Lafreniere will put up similar numbers and without MacKinnon. Huberdeau is a good comparison I guess but I still think of him with the Sea Dogs and he would do it more on his own then.

I guess I don't really think of most them in that way, as most of them are ridiculous finishers. Was trying to come up with somebody with some size, too. Nyquist is/was a playmaking wing, terrific skills but he's much more contained due to physical stature.

Don’t sleep on the kids shot. He has maybe the best release in the draft to go with that amazing playmaking.

So Laf looked great, how did Byfield look?

Was impressed by Berggren yesterday, he does what he always does, creates space with his deceptive skating and hands in the offensive zone and then pass it to an open attacker. He probably created a 3-4 good scoring chances, he didn't quite dominate but looked overall solid with smart plays. Something that somewhat bothers me is that Berggren never really looks to shoot the puck, he always passes, while his passing is great it would be good to see him take it upon himself to score from time to time, it's the same in SHL.

Holtz impressed me, he was hustling out there on both the forecheck and backcheck. I'm used to seeing hime cherry pick a lot but he didn't really do that all too much.

Raymond looked abit out of place to be honest, he made some good plays for sure, but he didn't stand out as a highly touted prospect with game breaking ability to me. He's been sick for a while and dealt with injuries this season so perhaps he's not quite up to game speed yet. Still think he's a far better player than Holtz though.
I just finished rewatching the Sweden game from yesterday and I'm curious as to what you didn't like from Raymond? I thought he was Sweden's best forward. His playmaking is certainly elite but the one thing that really stood out was his positioning, he's constantly moving without the puck trying to get into a better lane to receive a pass or tip a shot on net. He always seems to be in the right spot, whether it's on the PP, defensive zone or even getting in lane to keep a puck from exiting the offensive zone. His hockey IQ maybe 2nd to only Laf in this draft.

I could easily see Stutzle going third just based on watching that first period. He has that it factor just watching him. Not going to say hes going third for sure or anything based on one period but I think hes going to be really good.Plays really fast and looks like his hands can keep up as well

Give Byfield time to adjust, there is a ton of pressure at this tournament and because Canada is so deep he is playing on the wing which isn't natural for him.

Maybe.

But at this point of tank I want the sure bet which is Lafreniere. Not any hopefuls anymore. I want the best non-NHLr to join us and change the organizational direction.

I don't see Germany winning any game. They basically got 2 alrighty offensive lines carried by Stützle and Peterka and one great defender with Seider.
If you want to be the surprise team, you need to have great goaltending. Their goaltending is below average.

I expect this game to be a 6:1 for the US. Germany will go to the box very often later on as they become more and more frustrated and tired, just like the pre-tournament 7:1 when they conceded 5 goals in the third.

Both Seider and Stützle won't have a great tournament, as the lack of support will pull them down, but I hope we'll still be able to see their ups and downs. I expect Stützle to be the fifth pick next year, a surprisingly great one, as he would go higher if he had more support from team Germany.
I believe he has the best puck handling of all the players in the tournament. He surely won't be in our range, though, as we will have a top 3 pick.

Assist for Seider on the PP. Nice moves on the blueline.

Peterka is another draft-eligible looking good so far.

Well first of all, my thoughts are a recollection of the game which i saw yesterday, so my recollection can easily be quite tainted. First thing i remember not liking was how he seemed indecisive with the puck, which resulted with him getting stuck along the boards a few times and sometimes it led to his passes being abit off. But i'm really just nitpicking though, i hold him to quite a high standard so i'm being highly critical whenever i watch him. I agree with your assesment though and that's always been his strenght, his IQ allows him to always finds way to positively impact a game with or without the puck.

The indecisivness with the puck can be excused by the fact that this was his first game after dealing with a sickness.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss them, this tournament is full of surprises every year. As for Stützle, we're most likely to pick 4th, so he's most certainly in our range.
