That was legitimately the most poorly officiated game I've ever seen. So many phantom penalties. That last Schutz call was shameful.
1. Its IIHF, they call everything and that was interference.

2. It was a bonehead play on his part. (see 1) He didn't even try to make it look incidental lol.

*You mean when he came out of the box right? Or did he take more than 5 penalties?

Will be nice to see Sweden vs Germany,
Seider is a beast we need to bring elite washed up defenseman to pair with Seider

I guess standing in the neutral zone and having someone skate directly into you is interference?

Not that it was an interference call. It was actually an elbowing call, which is even weirder. His arms were at his sides.

I'm with you there. Interested to see if he can figure it out at the NHL level. I don't see "triggerman" ability tho.

I think it's a little projecting on my end. I just see someone with his build and think that if he has an offseason where he focuses on just his shot it should improve substantially.

How about Suter, Hedman, Pietrangelo, Carlson, Theodore? Lidstrom? I think Seider can definitely be a PPQB, I see literally no reason why he wouldn't be able to do it at the NHL level.

He's not a 4th forward type of D but he looks great offensively imo.

Seider, imo, doesn't have the offensive ability that is comparable to that of a Carlson, Lidstrom, or Hedman and neither Suter or Pietrangelo are players I would want to QB my PP, though Pietrangelo has been better this year. I think the comparison to Parayko is pretty spot on. Seider has a good first pass, his skating and his size advantage allow him to generate efficient transportation of the puck for zone exists/entries, and he is very well rounded defensively with a good stick, good gap control, and a mean streak to boot. The issue is that with teams moving towards almost exclusively running a 4F & 1D setup I don't see a spot for Seider on our top PP unit when we have Hronek who is, imo, more suited for the role. I don't mean that as a knock against Seider it's just to my eyes he doesn't look like he'll be a main stay on the top PP.

Seider makes the right plays and can distribute the puck fine at the junior level, but he hasn't made any passes or done anything that really makes me think "wow" on that German PP. If I'm being honest I think his best asset on the PP is his ability to gain the zone via his skating and passing ability, once they're in the offensive zone he becomes a bit of a passenger. That's not a slight and that's likely his role as the other F are all excellent and the unit works because of the constant movement and overall chemistry between them all. If he can develop into a #1 PPQB all gladly eat my words and sing his praises.

He put a cross check into his stance then. Elbowing is a weird call. I'll agree to disagree but I laughed at how dumb that was on his part.

I've been watching WJC for enough years to not get upset about penalties, maybe its just me. I don't really care about results so much either, and enjoy seeing the prospects in different situations. Although it does encourage these guys to flop with the slightest touch which is pretty shameful in of itself.

Veleno getting high praise from the tsn panel is very refreshing!

I think I saw a graphic earlier on TSN that showed he played 20 minutes in the US-CAN game which was 4 minutes more than any other F on Canada. It seems like they're using him in every situation and he's playing well which is great to see. Hopefully he can continue to play well and go back dominate the AHL.

Carlson and Hedman have hammer shots. Just because Ovie and Stammer are the preferred triggermen on those PP doesn't mean those guys are lacking howitzers, they both can bring a ton of heat.

Agree with some of those other names. Karlsson and Burns are also guys that don't necessarily thump the puck. Seider has a ton of potential, he gets better seemingly every week, not sure what he will contribute on the PP, importantly for us he looks like a real difference maker. I couldn't be happier thus far with what has happened post draft.
