Just gonna put it out there: Brossoit>>>> Subban. Big mistake not taking him.

Peter Loubardias said they do have a question about who should be the starter, that Subban was the worst goalie last week but they want him to be the starter.

He said 2 of the goals were suspect and one of the goals just should not have happened.

He's been crap since the pre-camp. The only reason he's on the tip was because of the summer series and politics. Paterson even outplayed him. I think he's good, but mentally weak.

Canada is gonna have a tough time with him in net.

I look forward to Canada winning Silver.

Just 1 game that doesn't even count man. I have my concerns with Subban, as I mentioned on the last page, but he is still a great goalie. Belleville would be so screwed without him. They have the lowest goals for total and tied for 2nd lowest goals allowed in the OHL and sit 3rd in the conf. As long as Subban brings the kind of goaltending he has this season, the team finds chemistry and plays strong defense then we are in very good shape. It takes some time for a team to get going, which makes me happy that we have these pre-tourny games.

I dont like our chances.
Only took watching 2 minutes of the SWE/USA game to see they have way more team speed then us. I hope I'm wrong but I see us strugglin on the big surface against Russia or USA.

Rielly can't even work his magic because of the penalties.

Third penalty for Canada.

Reilly with Hamiton just doesn't cut it, two offensive defencemem together just doesn't work, both need defence first D'man for partners. So that they can both show case their game at the highest level.

I'll wager Leafs' 2nd round pick Matt Finn makes the WJC team when he's 19 like Ouellet is.

Of course, this would be nothing new for the Leafs, who have had plenty of mid and late round picks make Canada's WJC team in the last decade.....

I.White - 6th round
C.Didomenico - 6th round
K.Wellwood - 5th round
B.Bell - 3rd round
J.Pogge - 3rd round
J.Harrison - 3rd round
M.Stajan - 2nd round

What a star studded cast that is, Stajan the only 2nd rd pick we've made that has actually had a career in years. Morrison must go along with most of his scouts.

Leafs Prospects Look to Make Impact on WJC Stage

World Junior Preview
As the World Junior Season – yes, I said World Junior Season, not Holiday Season
rolls around, hockey nuts begin to neglect their Christmas duties and focus their attention on the best 17-19 year old prospects. For die-hard hockey fans, the World Juniors serve as quite possibly the year’s most exciting and entertaining event, particularly given that the NHL destroying itself. Not only are the world’s brightest young prodigies on display battling for their respective countries, but there always seems to be a dramatic theme building throughout.

Every time I see Dougie Hamilton play, I'm left wondering why he is so highly touted. I hate watching him play with Rielly because he will NEVER go D to D when in the offensive zone. It's a bad pairing IMO, because Dougie tries to do too much so Rielly can't do what he does best.

Put Rielly with Reinhart or something like that.

Morrison has been here since 2004, and wasn't promoted to Director of Amateur Scouting until 2006. Since then we have drafted in the 2nd round six times.

2006- Nikolai Kulemin --Has had a solid career in Toronto, a steal for a 2nd rounder
2008- Jimmy Hayes --Traded for the 43rd pick in the 2010 NHL draft(Brad Ross)
2009- Kenny Ryan --Too early to write off
2009- Jesse Blacker --Too early to write off
2010- Brad Ross --Too early to write off
2012- Matt Finn --Too early to write off

Since 2004, we have missed drafting in the 2nd round 4 years total. So if it's anybody fault, its the god damn GM that keeps trading away our 2nd rounders.

Some other late round picks that Morrison has drafted

-Carl Gunnarsson
-Leo Komarov
-Anton Stralman
-Victor Stalberg
-Matt Frattin
-James Reimer

It's not great, but it isn't terrible either. I don't think Morrison is the problem, and before anybody jumps me, I'm not saying Burke is either.

Looking back further than that though I would have to agree with you (Before Morrison) our 2nd round drafting is abysmal. After Stajan, no 2nd rounder of ours played more than 200 games since we drafted Felix Potvin in 1990. :(

If you look at some of the drafts, the Leafs drafting has been pretty good, landing them hasn't always worked out, either by trade, or just not getting them to come over to North America.

Look at the 2002 draft, players in the NHL and KHL even today. There are only so many positions in the NHL, so drafting a player in the 8th. and 9th. rounds who are still playing in the top league in Europe a decade later is quite good.

Ryan Murphy being named top Cdn was peculiar, this guy is going to have to learn there are 4 other guys wearing the same logo on the ice.

Taking this guy over Dumba, purely Spott. Mistake.

Dumba isnt very good.

Yet Barry Trapp made all of those picks save for Didomenico.

Get your ****ing facts straight man.

From the little I watched, really dumb play by Canada with hooks and crosschecks, and undisciplined play.

I heard there were complaints about the officiating, but what I saw were legitimate calls .

Let me guess, he plays too much like Phaneuf.

BTW Phaneuf was good enough to make TSN's top 40 Cdn juniors all time, infact he was #11

Ok I wont even bring up why hes really not that good and massively overhyped but he was also brutal in the summer RUS/CAN series and has had a very underwhelming season in the WHL. I could understand someone having a beef with Murphy making it but Dumba has done nothing to show he deserves that spot besides being drafted high.

You mentioned 2006 draft I think it was recently. Pretty much every player the leafs picked in that draft will be playing in the NHL once hockey resumes.

Big time. It was the second PP Canada had and Murphy roars up the ice, has forwards open, instead skates in to a corner and turns it over. I don't know why he did that.

Dumba didn't impress at all in the pre-tourney games. I don't think Murphy is the right fit (I think Percy as a steady presence would be great with Rielly or Hammer).

We'll be okay, I think Subban was the wrong choice between the pipes. That's the weakness in the Hockey Canada program right now. We aren't producing as many top-flight goalies as we are D-men and FWD's.

Dude you're right:

1st round: Jiri Tlusty - playing with Carolina
2nd round: Nikolai Kulemin - playing with the Leafs
4th round: James Reimer and Korbinian Holzer - Reimer should be starting and Holzer should be the 7th D
6th round: Viktor Stalberg, Tyler Ruegsegger, and Leo Komarov - Stalberg's a regular in Chicago and Ruegsegger was the only miss the Leafs had this entire draft. Komarov should be playing for the Leafs when the NHL resumes operations.

That's a stupid good draft by Toronto.
