Another Red Wing 2nd round pick on the team, Leaf scouting staff again fails to find a 2nd rd pick that is worthy.

I'll wager Leafs' 2nd round pick Matt Finn makes the WJC team when he's 19 like Ouellet is.

Of course, this would be nothing new for the Leafs, who have had plenty of mid and late round picks make Canada's WJC team in the last decade.....

I.White - 6th round
C.Didomenico - 6th round
K.Wellwood - 5th round
B.Bell - 3rd round
J.Pogge - 3rd round
J.Harrison - 3rd round
M.Stajan - 2nd round

Rielly on the ice for a pretty big scramble in front of the net. Rielly got beat a little on the outside that started it. If the forward tied his man up like he should have though nothing would have come from that play. No goal luckily.

Pretty sloppy game, but that's expected. It's hilarious to see some posters/people go crazy over these types of games - writing off players and even areas of the team (defense, goalies).

You mean like how they say Rielly has been terrible but hasn't done anything right or wrong? It's been pretty lackluster for Rielly but he has screwed up in any way. Hasn't taken any bad penalties for example :sarcasm:

Yeah, a bit I guess. Rielly gets the attention because he's a Leaf and that's fine - but not just him, I think I've seen people rag on everyone on the team so far.

Bottom line is that it's their first game - no one has really looked all that great and that's OK; not the end of the world (yet lol).

It's been a pretty bad game for Canada. They got the one goal and another like 20 seconds later. They really only showed up for that minute of the game. Hopefully Canada has improved for next game, it's hard to get worse.

Good first game for them. I'm sure they have heard the media talking about whether this will be the best Junior team ever and maybe they think they should be given the championship. A game likes this takes them down to earth a little and shows that they still need to work and work as a team to win.

5 on 3...for finland

Honestly, I think Rielly was one of the very best players on Canada in terms of using his team-mates

That's what I meant

Rielly wasn't his usual self, thats for sure. But yeah, he also wasn't doing individual efforts and losing the puck on them either. He needs to hold onto the puck a little longer and things will happen for him.

Ryan Murphy as Canada's top player? Come on.

Not many other choices  I don't know who I would have picked :dunno:

I distinctly remember reading that Kadri was the worst player on Team Canada, and that was after he had 2 assists in the gold medal game including an assist on Eberle's game tying goal.

Well he was on the top line I believe and schenn was on the 2nd line.

From what I saw from this game looked like some players weren't read to go, obvi the finish players were gonna come out harder cause they havnt picked there team yet but canada looked good after the 2nd. I don't even wanna talk about the refs, because I believe in the last 5 min no penalties should ever be called unless it took away a definite scoring opportunity which neither of the 3 penalties did. The refs were a joke today.

Bobby Mac talked about Rielly:
Said that it's hard to judge him after this game due to the high number of penalties. Brought up the play in the 3rd where was that scramble out in front of the net as a weak point of his game today.

I agree on both counts, will just reiterate that yes Rielly got beat outside, but the chance by Finland wouldn't have happened at all if the forward tied up his man like he should've.
