Just maybe Burke is on to something by drafting Americans!

The last few years our Canadian players have really lost their mojo when it really, really counts.

U.S.A.

Listening to Spott speak in all of his interviews it's clear he doesn't have that fire or passion. It's no wonder the team came out flat. Listening to a coach like that would put you to sleep. Terrible terrible call to make this guy coach.

I think we should also stop developing players for other countries!

No more non-Canadians on our Junior league teams!!!

When you are playing for your Country, the coach should not be able to turn you into a gutless, no heart, bunch of pukes.

Yes, I'm pissed!!!

That's true but it is part of the coach's responsibility to prepare the team and make sure the players are ready to play.

Pride in playing for your Country should be enough to get any player ready IMHO.

It's not only about pride. You need a sound strategy and game plan, you need to be able to calm your nerves.... All part of a coach's job. With your reasoning a hockey team wouldn't need a coach and you could just throw any 23 Canadians on the ice and expect them to win just based on "pride" alone.

Even Spott admitted in the post game interview the team didn't get a good start and didn't put enough pressure on the puck. Maybe if he drove that point home more before the game started the outcome may have been different (he also admitted that perhaps he wasn't vocal enough).

Time to bring back the Frenchie goalies. We used to dominate when we had Q goalies in nets. What has happened the past 4 years is our goaltending has not been able to steal games for us when it mattered.

When was the last time a goalie stole Canada a game? Carey Price?

Its funny how we always play the Russians in these Subway Series or Summer Challenges. We gotta start playing the Americans they are our true rivals now. Enough of this nostalgia 1972 and the Russians are the enemy and the team to beat. The Americans are the one to beat now.

They stole our system and are working it just as well as us now.

There either not enough good goalie teachers or it's the players who are disinterested. And there's got to be someone who can teach the goalies something other than the butterfly. It blows.

I wasn't really that impressed by Steve Spott at all. Seemed like Canada was just sleepwalking through the tournament to some degree before today. The team always seemed like less than the sum of its parts, like a good computer with a ton of malware on it, to use a boring description.

This team is hard to watch, no heart, no hustle, they made it through the round robin barely putting an effort and didn't wake up today when the US pushed back. The way Russia and Sweden are playing, I'm fully expecting a 4th place finish this year.

Little ironic, don't you think, that Price and Pogge, the last goalies to really dominate a tournament in goal for us both came from the WHL

Maybe it's a function of watching replay games knowing the outcome beforehand, but I didn't find too many Canadian characters you could really get behind and support, like in years past guys like Stefan Della Rovere who would energize the roster. Even the stars this year seemed boring. I just didn't care about RNH, Huberdeau or Strome that much.

So... Three questions:

1. What the hell happened in this game?

2. How did Rielly play in this mess?

3. Did Biggs look good at least?

Glad I didn't stay up for this one
