Posted a few thoughts on the Main board, but to the Leafs fans here, I thought Biggs had a hell of a game today.

He is a main part of the USA's top ranked PK unit, he made some great reads picking off passes, he was a force 5 on 5 playing safe mins, and he provided the screen for the back breaking 3rd goal by the US team. Unsung player that even gets critiqued on our board, but to sum it up, he came up big in a big game. This didn't go unnoticed to me, to the stats fans, who think players are only valuable if they score a goal or add assists they will not recognize these type of contributions by players like Tyler.

But any true hockey expert will notice, and Housley who has outcoaced Spott this game, did, Tyler is getting more important mins as the tourney goes on.

Leafs did well picking this kid up, he's a leader, he has heart and today he made a difference. A bigger difference than Rielly did. For one day we can certainly say this.

Where is Canada's muscle? It seems like we have about 6 offensive defensemen and no forechecking line whatsoever. Also, they didn't seem to make any adjustments to their game plan after a terrible first or second period. It seem the only change that the coach made was at some point in the middle of the third he decided to allow both of his dmen to pinch whenever they felt like it. Horrible coaching and game planning IMO.

Didn't get to watch the game, but reading this makes me very happy.

Holy ****, how freakin hard can it be to find a quality coach, haven't had one in 5 years! Such a piss off, a team like this year should not have looked this bad! Spott was a disgrace!

I agree, a fantastic player and someone you want on your team when you actually want to win.

Although he did make a bigger difference then Rielly, that wasn't all entirely on Rielly. Biggs' coach actually utilized him to his strengths which allowed him to succeed while Rielly's coach barely utilized him at all.

We have a good one, he may not score 30 - 40 goals, but he makes players around him better, does a lot of things well. Troechek has had a great tourney with Tyler playing his wing, Jenner has had a great year playing with Tyler, no coincidence, always in position, strong on the boards, supports his linemates. Leafs could use a winger like this.

+1 Finally agree on something. Biggs makes teams better, no coincidence as his mins grew Team USA started playing better and started winning. Like Troechek too, smart 2 way player.

I would love a summary of Reilly and Biggs.

It sounded, for whatever reason, Reilly road the bench again.. I think prior to this game he hasn't been on a goal for a goal against. Noticed he was a -1 tonight. Was the goal his fault? How did he play??

What about Biggs, Held pointless again, but how did he perform his role??

Look above, I just posted a summary of his game.

I have no friggen idea.

My prediction, a blow out or a close game ... for one of the teams.

I just didn't know what to expect since the scores seemed all over the place and I didn't have confidence in how the team was playing. The US got an extra game to put it altogether blowing out the Czech's.

Not surprised and wouldn't have been had the score been the other way.

So 4 goals on 16 shots?

Jon Gillies is also a Flames pick?

:handclap:

Can't wait to see him lace up for the blue and White in the future. His pressence is definitely a huge confidence boost to who ever plays with him, a big guy that'll crush anything in his way.

I'll admit Rielly was in bad position for the GA( he was standing in front of Subban), other than that he played just fine IMO. Had a few good rushes that ended with shots on goal and were good enough chances, but it was the same old story all tourney long, Spott didn't utilize him properly and kepth playing Murphy over him for what-ever reason.

The thing I found weird about Rielly's rushes is that he had 0 support from the forwards. It's like they all decided to go for a line change when Rielly started his rush.

I thought Rielly was fine in the tournament with the role he was put in. This year more than ever it's clear it's a tournament for the 19 year olds, hardly any of the guys from the recent draft have impressed that much.

So much for the NHL lock-out advantage for Team Canada.

Not enough heart again!!!

Perhaps the selection process is flawed with too much homerism involved. Subban and Murphy two examples where more deserving players get ignored.

Yes, too many times the wrong players are taken for the wrong reasons.

Our goal tending has been nothing but disappointing for several years now.
