of course not. That's why the scheduled most of the european games in bad time for Europe to watch. Oh wait.
Too bad it will be RUS-CAN. Should bring in good numbers though.
In the Czech Republic: Olympics >> IIHF World Championship ( now huuuuge gap) >>>>>>>>>>>>World Cup >>>>> IIHF World Junior Championship.
What do those numbers mean..
This is where deductive reasoning comes into play...a 310? Either that means only 310,000 people watched or 3.1 million watched. I'm not sure.
There are various people on HF who have posted the World Cup is line with the Olympics. If that is the view, then 6 million is understated since Canada in gold medal in 2010 & 14 easily got over 10 million.
I don't think the WC is even close to the Olympics.
I think You can probably say that It already has been a ratings disaster on both sides of the border. You know what? Most people I know don't really give a crap about this "tournament" at all.
Saturday's Canada-Czech Republic game averaged 1.55 million viewers on Sportsnet, almost 600,000 more than the Blue Jays did on fellow Rogers outlets Sportsnet One and Sportsnet 360. Admittedly, the latter two channels don't reach as many viewers as the main Sportsnet feed, but that would account for only a couple of hundred thousand viewers at most.
The Great Canadian Ratings Report: World Cup of Hockey leaves others in its snow spray

Interesting spin considering it is league baseball play and supposedly a World Cup, hockey's biggest showcase.
From the article, weekend ratings:
"1. World Cup of Hockey, Canada vs. Czech Rep., Saturday, Sportsnet: 1,550,000
2. MLB, Blue Jays at Angels, Friday, Sportsnet: 1,310,000
3. World Cup of Hockey, North America vs. Finland, Sunday, Sportsnet: 1,010,000"
Of course these 162 league baseball games decide who gets to challenge for the World Series, so I guess there's that.
Baseball did take quite the back seat when Canada did play, though. Even though it was the Czechs and the game was a rout.
I guess, but people can watch the Jays practically every day for like 6 months.
These World Cup games are like a 2 week window.
You would think the numbers for hockey tournament like this should dwarf a regular season baseball game.
Though full disclosure the I guess the Jays are in a playoff fight, so there is that.
Plus baseball season is coming to a close and NHL is right around the corner so people know they can start watching hockey soon enough.
Lastly, I would imagine lots of folks out and about on a Friday, taking advantage of the weather while they still can so they could have been watching in restaurants and bars.

Only the Olympics would give hockey the attention in the US. If the NHL would stop looking short term and think for its future, it would understand how immensely important the Olympics are but no, the NHL is an amateurish league that have shortsighted vision.Wow...my goodness...
Those ratings are terrible, they're some of the worst we've seen the entire tournament...so much for my prediction about a relative rise in ratings, the last USA game got less viewers than ESPN2 sportscenter reruns at 3AM...
