I've always felt Belgium was overrated. Martinez isn't the best but I just don't get a good vibe from this so called "Golden Generation".

They were World #1 for a reason for a while.

Had everything... at every position.

Tbh though it is not quite "that" team anymore.

No Kompany, no Vermaelen, no Dembele, no Nainggolan anymore...

and a lot of the key guys are the wrong side of 30.

2014-2018 was there window really... 2018 especially.

Lukaku
Hazard-De Bruyne-Mertens
Dembele-Witsel
Vertonghen-Vermaelen-Kompany-Meunier
Courtois

Mignolet, Alderweirald, Denayer, Fellaini, Chadli, Nainggolan, Defour, Carrasco, Tielemens, Hazarz, Batshuayi, Miralles, Origi, Benteke

was just an absolutely silly group.

This World Cup Martinez has made some awful selections. Left some of best, young, on form guys at home.

Martinez building everything tactically around Hazard instead of De Bruyne these last few years is also just so f***ing dumb.

Hazard has not deserved his place as a starter for Belgium for about 4 years now.

Belgium is too old, they arent going far in this competition.

Not taking:

Saelemaekers
Sambi Lokonga
Lukebakio
Verschaeren

was dumb.

All young, all very good, all in better form than several 30+ year olds who were taken.

Tielemans is probably Belgiums 2nd best player and Martinez sees him as a back-up who he wont play in his primary position.

Also still insisting that Hazard is "the man" and building all tactics around him is f***ing stupid.

Croatia methodically wore Canada down. Canada needs at least two changes at halftime.

Atiba, earning his 100th cap today (first Canadian man to do so), can't keep pace. Not surprising for the oldest player in the tournament.

Canada is still in this. Croatia looks uncomfortable defending, too.
