The thing is, we don't need another center, we need a power forward that can play with Jack or Nico. Slavkovsky is the perfect fit. If Slavkovsky goes #1 than you consider trading the pick for a Mathew Tkachuk (for example if available) or trading back within the top 5 for a team that needs a Shane Wright and gaining an additional A plus asset while also drafting one of the D.

That's all well and good but I still don't get the "Wright having Nolan Patrick" vibes thing.

People say that because they both don't have a single particular skill that leaps out (like Jack's passing/skating, Stamko's shot, etc). That's all they mean.

In general, I think people are being a bit too literal when comparing players to Kakko, Zacha, etc. They're just talking about kinds of risk, not particular play styles.

Wright's shot definitely stands out imo. His 2 way game also stands out. I'm way more impressed with Wright than I was with Patrick. It feels like a somewhat lazy comparison to me but it is what it is. If MTL fumbles the pick and we get him at #2, that'd be a steal, but that won't happen, pretty convinced he's going 1st.

I don't think Wright has the same problem as Nolan who has about the same amount of injuries in total that player at the end of their career would have.

Severson is QB of what looks like Canada’s top pp. They just scored too. Over Chabot.

I’ve always really liked him on the pp and think he is very good there. He’s a great puck mover with skill who can shoot when he gets the chance. Has great maneuverability with his hands around his body

I just think people didn't see him progress as much as he should have from last year to this year, similar to Patrick who was also a consensus #1 pick for a while (although Patrick had injury trouble). I also have concerns with him keeping up with the pace of play at the NHL level and he looks to have a somewhat awkward stride so I'm not thrilled with his skating. He is not having an impressive playoff performance so far. I'm not sure he has any elite attributes at the NHL level. At best I think he's a poor man's Tavares. I personally like Cooley better as Wright's biggest weaknesses are his biggest strengths. He is a below average #1 pick in my eyes. I think realistically he's a very good 2C or average 1C, not the type of franchise player some people think he will be.
