Slaf actually reminds me most of Viktor Kozlov. Big guy. Tons of skill. But, not dominant and just missing something that would bring it all together.

Kozlov still played almost 900 games and scored over 500 points. But, he was always a complimentary player and wasn’t a guy who moved the needle (except for maybe a couple of years in Florida - even then he was playing with Bure).

Obviously not worst thing to come out of the draft with someone like Kozlov.

I actually liked Kozlov as a player.

I think he’s a guy that if he played in today’s era with analytics people would appreciate him more.

Good things happened when he was on the ice but because his game was very calm and he was so big people would be left wanting more because he wasn’t visually more dominant.

I’m not saying he was a superstar but I think fanbases would get tired of him because they’d all think “if he just played harder he would be good” while not appreciating that he scored at a pretty good rate and I’m thinking the ice probably tilted a bit positively when he was on it.

Anybody else interested in Vejmelka? He was really good and got a 1-0 shutout.

The finnish pbp guy talked very nicely about Hughes though. His ability to hold the puck in the ozone and stretch passes out of dzone. He is still 18 afterall. If anyone was terrible it’s Seth Jones, what the hell happened to him.

Looking for a Canada win. That sets up a Slovakia vs Denmark head to head tomorrow for the last quarterfinal spot.

Let's see some more Slafkovsky.

Pretty fun and close evening games, sucks if Slovakia is out, but congrats Denmark first ever win over Canada I think?

Graves and Severson have been putting up nice stats, I wonder how many goals against they have in these losses.

Yeah, he is not ready to play in nhl yet. Hopefully after next year if he can develope his defensive game. I think he has had atleast half dosen eregious mistakes in this tournament
His IQ/decision making is the only thing holding him back from being arguably the top prospect in hockey right now. He's always going to be a bit of a gambler, but he'll get smoked in the NHL with his decision making right now. Somebody is going to have to reel it in and hold him accountable, which may get dicey with his brother on the roster.

He's a smart determined kid. I cannot imagine that he will be unwilling to adapt his game the way Jack has had to.

"Power Forward" is just a name of a position.

huh? no it's not. It's a way to describe how someone plays. For example, a playmaker is a player who primarily drives plays and...well makes plays. Patrick Kane has a disgusting shot but no one is going to describe him as a sniper. Same with Jack Hughes (although Jack hasn't really gotten 40 goals yet). Another example is related to a sniper. They are players who are primarily goal scorers. Alex Ovechkin can make a play here and there, but no one is going to say he's a playmaker. He's 100% a sniper. Ovechkin also loves to play the body and use his size, but he's not a power forward.

From what I've seen, Slafkovsky is 100% a playmaking winger which is rare and a good thing imo (like Taylor Hall).

I never watched Kozlov as a prospect so I can't agree or disagree.

Why would it? This is a pro setting, I would be very disappointed if people let that get in the way. Hell, I expect Jack himself to tell Luke to get his shit together if he messes up.

Yes , Luke like his brothers are competitive as hell. I can see Luke doing whatever is asked of him to become a better player and help his team win . Jack and Quinn have said Luke is the most competitive. Seeing a young kid tryimg to do the most he can to win is not a bad thing , just that for nkw his decision making is not there. But can you blame him? How many games has he played at that level? A handful. He shows the skill that is needed is there , just need to corral it better . I have zero worries about that part of Likes game. He will get it figured out

Jack has been reeled in at times and is just fine. I'm sure Jack will be the first one to tell Luke he needs to step up, they seem like a competitive bunch.

I am trying to figure out who is all playing in the upcoming Hlinka Gretzky cup but I can’t find out anything about rosters. Same with World Jrs. I want to know so I can decide to buy tickets or not. If Slafkovsky and others are going , I want to check it out.

So is Slovakia eliminated even if they beat Denmak in regulation tomorrow? No clue how the tiebreaker works.

No, if they win in regulation against Denmark they them tie in points.

The tie-breaker in this round is winner of the game since every team plays all the other teams in their group once.

Probably Cooley.

There *are* people like that out there that believe that.

I don't know why that's funny, Cooley is an incredible prospect. One of the fastest guys from this class, great two way play (although not quite wright level) and plenty of offensive upside. He's been compared to Point a lot, and if you look him play he reminds me a lot of Bratt with hints of Nico and Jack thrown in there. I don't know why everyone doesn't love this player. The only reason for us would be, we already have this type of players, but for someone who doesn't (Arizona) he might be a homerun. He's a guy that was ranked 15-20 range a year ago, and have been slowly rising rank by rank. Some people even have him as #1. I had him at #2 before the WC, but Slaf's performance has surpassed him for me. If Cooley becomes the best guy from the draft I wouldn't be surprised (same can be said about Wright and Slafkovsky too)

Edit: there's a thread in the mainboard about this: Slafkovsky Vs. Cooley
Almost 100% of non-devils fans prefer Cooley while devils fans prefer Slaf. I think one of the reasons is that there's a bit of an echo chamber effect going on both places. @StevenToddIves and others being so high on Slafkovsky and lower on Cooley has definitely skewed the perception on this sub. The other reason is, most fanbases haven't watched these guys nearly as much as we have since they have no shot on either, so their view might be dated and based entirely on stats.
