But the penalty was called for the goalie

2min penalty for United States
#33 RIGSBY Alex for Tripping (served by #25 CARPENTER Alex).

So how can the penalty be called when USA had no control over puck? Finnish player put it in goal while it was delayed penalty

Ive never in my 25yrs of watching hockey, seen something this absurd :help:

The Prez of the Republic already earlier commented on twitter about having to watch two results on Sunday night (the election and the home games finale in women's hockey).

The societal standing of women's hockey is a bit of an issue currently in Finland, it stems from there.

NHL Network put rule up.

Refs did screw the pooch. Per the rule, it was clear goaltender interference on the Finnish skater.

Correct call was no goal and penalty on Finland

What made this more bizarre was the fact that the call was made on US Goalie.

Reality:

- Finns did not get screwed
- Refs screwed up
- Finns didn’t get the GWG, but they got a gift pp as a result of bad reffing.

How much Trump paid for that?

Never seen bull**** like this In ice hockey. Nobody In Iihf cant even get answer for what that call was.

Us and A didnt win anything.

Finland made protest so nothing is over yet

If MAGA was involved in any way shape or form he would never let it get to OT.
But, since you brought it up, he should get involved and make Sauli buy the girls a nice dinner for all their troubles.

Also, Rule 184(iii):
If a goaltender is outside his goal crease and an attacking skater prevents the goaltender from returning to his crease or prevents the goaltender from playing his position properly while a goal is scored, the goal will not count and the attacking skater will be assessed a minor penalty for interference.

Judging by this, Finland should be glad they came out of it with a power play and not 3-on-3, or killing a penalty

If it's a big deal in Finland that's fine but the people calling conspiracy and rigged are like the same people who think the moon landing was faked. Not everything is a big inside job rigged against you.
Nothing was rigged, just incompetent reffing that cost Finns the gold.

Do you realize how insignificant this is in the US? There's virtually no media coverage, I happened upon the 3rd period because I left the channel on NHL Network and they aired this instead of NHL highlight replays.
The final round of the Masters. MLB game snowed - yes, snowed - out. NBA and NHL playoffs and t minus 4 hours and counting until Game of Thrones premiere.

It’s beyond insignificant

Bingo

Finland got gifted a PP coming out of that.

I fear we’re gonna look back in 10 years at this like “Remember the one time Canada or the US almost did not win gold?” As we bemoan the predictability of a sport where apparently parity does not exist as the US and Canada win like the next 40 gold medals

The Olympics are watched by millions of people in almost every nation on the planet. Let's not compare the two.
It’s comparable. This tournament was watched by at least 14 people in the US that aren’t related to players on the team. Well, maybe 20 people of the remote got stuck when people were searching for reruns of bass fishing tournaments
