It’s kind of like soccer.

Shoulder to shoulder is fine when both players are in motion. You can also pin players against the boards.

You just can’t lay players out.

That makes sense. I coached girls rec soccer for a lot of years, and would run contact drills so that they a) realized there was contact and that was ok, b) get them used to it and to play on and c) do it clean and right and for advantage.
