Imagine how many more goals would be scored if the size of the goalies equipment were the same as the the equipment used in the 1960s?
Imagine how many more goals would be scored if the net sizes were increased to take into the body size increase of goalies, and their now use of oversized equipment?
Offside IS NOT interpretive, it's offside or it's not. When a goal is scored, the team that was scored on, has the right to know if the play that entered their d-zone was NOT against the rules for off sides.
Too many other hockey NHL rules are enforced differently from ref to ref, at least offside can be enforced evenly across the board after a goal. Our Leafs could have lost that game in regulation had the goal been deemed good and the Oilers were awarded a power play.
