honestly not totally opposed to it. If you can get a haul. I’d want a young 2RD and 2C, prospect with low floor high ceiling, 1st, conditional 2nd that can become a 1st

why do you think theyll be worse next year? Fresh start without the Trouba nonsense + whatever moves Drury makes in the summer. I think the pick will be much lower next year

That would not make this team better, getting a bunch of spare parts. I was told how we could get a guy like Borgen for a 4th round pick and here we are getting middle of the roster players for a former Norris winner who is Norris top 5 finalist virtually every year. Let's at least wait until he's not playing with Lindgren before we trade him.

I like how Drury didn't want to part with the 30th overall last year when we were top 3 cup favorites, but now that we're 2 games above .500 he fires the missiles.

This organization is truly a joke. Welcome back to the dark ages, fellas

Trade Fox and the Rangers have the worst defense in the NHL with nothing coming through the pipeline.
But we'll win a and extra board battle or two (dont worry about zone exits and gebral puck movement) so it'll be ok.

I'm actually starting to lean towards team 'trade Fox' but mainly because it'd be a lot more fun to watch him on a different team

Was he not parting for a signed affordable JT Miller or for potentially renting Guentzel? Those two things are very different. Plus, didn't he want to trade for Miller for the longest time?

It's not really different at all. You're talking about the 14th this year or a very dangerous unprotected pick next year versus the 30th overall.

Last year was the year you do this type of shit. Not when you're 3? Games over .500 50 games in

If he feels that this season is a fluke and Miller is not a one year asset then it's different. Didn't he trade a first rounder for Tarasenko? Isn't that a better argument?

You think if JT Miller was available for this price last year that he wouldn't have made this deal? I think he would have in a heartbeat. I'm not a Drury guy but this was a steal of a deal that comes along very rarely since so many different things have to fall into place.

People who want to trade Fox for stuff and things are f***ing cracked.

I promise you if you had any other "top" D in the league and you saw them spend as many as 3 games with Lindgren you'd be begging for Fox back.
Trading Fox before giving him a partner that isn’t bad would be absolute malpractice.

I was ahead of the board on ALL the failsons getting momm'ed for years, Lindgren, Chytil having a jellyhead, and I'm telling you, the inspired move is to get out in front of Adam Fox's decline.

Having the vaunted Adam Fox has them like 20th in the league. If they tumble to 26th I think that's a distinction without a difference.

Adam Fox isn't standing still and putting out 11% effort in the o zone because he's paired with Ryan Lindgren. Prime Rod Langway could be his partner and he's still gonna do that.

I say that knowing the numbers and how otherworldy his attributes are to give him as good numbers as he has while acting like an office temp with a bad attitude for 1/3 of his shifts.

From Last year...
Panarin-Regressed
Trocheck-Regressed
Lafreniere-Regressed
93-REGRESSED
Kreider-REGRESSED
Cuylle- Same?
Schneider-Regressed
Miller- Regressed
Fox- Probably same
Lindgren- Regressed to almost Nemeth level

Igor- Regressed
Quick- Same??

How is it possible every single fkin player has regressed? Not counting the 4th liners because its basically a new line. Edstrom looks fine and Rempe as well for what he is.
Not one player you can say with confidence has improved.

Cuylle I'd say is the only player that improved. Before being traded Kakko too. Chytil is incomplete because he barely played last year.

Quick definitely regressed.

without doing any hard analysis - Panarin, Troch, Kreider, and Zib are definitely due in part to the collapse of the powerplay.

Yeah agree although not saying much regarding Kakko but I meant the guys that are on the roster now. At one point Chytil/Cuylle were playing some of the best 5 on 5 in hockey (I know small sample)
I hope its just a quick thing but Cuylle has become a ghost lately.
So depending on how Cuylle plays the final 30 of the year its incomplete. Let's hope he finishes strong.

Was trying not to be hard on Quick but he was unreal last year but I guess he hasn't been as great.

Panarin, Trocheck, and Lafreniere all had close to or career seasons that were going to be difficult to replicate, although just looking at 5v5 Lafreniere is basically the same. Mika was already on the downturn last season. Kreider who the f*** knows, age and perhaps this back injury is debilitating.

CK and 93 for sure but there were games last year the Trocheck/Panarin line dominated and scored Huge goals. Have they done that more that 2 or 3 times this year? Yes the powerplay sucks this year but still Trocheck and Panarin had some strong moments ES last year

If/when Lindgren is finally moved I look forward to all the takes about how Fox looks "quicker" and "in prime shape."

The only way I'd consider even moving Fox is if he a. Asks to be moved or b. Demands that Lindgren be kept.

Don't want to keep an unhappy player and he can f*** right off if he thinks Lindgren is helping him.

At that point trade him to the Bruins for McAvoy.

definitely did not expect to replicate but they have been far from what they were last year. 93 is just garbage. CK has to be hurt. I know stat wise Lafreniere is going at pretty much same pace but maybe its just the eye test was hoping to see more from him. He should be improving. Schneider should be improving. Miller should be improving. These guys are supposed to be the now and future.

People want to dump some guys for nothing with few replacements or cap relief in place. Professional GMs do not do that. Its a tough puzzle Drury is trying to glue together. This season with no cap room he added Carrick, Smith, Val, Brogen and JT. He also got rid of Goody and Troubas contracts. Feels like he has been trying to thread a needle. More deals for CK, Zibs, and Lindy would be ideal if we can add some real players/prospects/draft picks in return. Otherwise some may happen after July.
Yup. Too many people live in a fantasy land here. On one hand they say this is the team he inherited and next sentence will say, “he should move the unmovable contracts he inherited” lol

"In crucial game 7's, you'll see the Rangers outworked."

Rangers are 2-1 in game 7's with this core lmao including a blow out win against Carolina. Their "softness" had nothing to do with the one that they lost because that was against a team that was soft as f***.

Lazy blanket analysis is so f***ing stupid.

Boot Lindgren to Eris.

Honestly, that was a clear, clear, clear spot to upgrade after 2022. The shelf life on this player has always been one that was going to be pretty short and his value was never higher than it was then.

That remains the biggest sore spot on this team and it was one even before WS55's game went down the tubes.

Moving on from Trouba and Goodrow was a step in the right direction but a guy who was and still is a much bigger issue than either of those players still exists and is still eating big minutes.
So enlighten us on what realistic moves you wouldve made

How far back in the timeline are we allowed to go
As far as you want. But acknowledge with the benefit of hindsight everyone looks smart

Do players in the NHL actually demand that players they're playing with don't get traded? Or at least where we find out about it? This is reminiscent of how Panarin could never possibly play with another center who is not Ryan Strome.
