I agree, I think that Pierre McGuire does know what he's talking about but when he gets excited he says stupid things like for example that comment after canada's first goal in the Canada-Russia game when he said something about Malkin like: "I'm a Russian superstar i only think about offence i don't have to think about defence." Even though im a Canada fan, that annoyed me

Yep, I cringed when he said that. That's pretty unprofessional, and the way he said it borderlined on getting personal.

HF is lucky enough to have Bob Mackenzie and Gord Miller go as far as to post on our boards. I wouldn't blame them if they conveniently forgot about this website's existence, and it would be the fault of immature and childish whiners who post and participate in threads like this.

TSN goes balls out to make sure Canadians can watch this tournament. No other country gives a rats *** about the World U20 Championship like we do, and if not for TSN, we wouldn't care so much either.

So just because Bob and Gord post here, we should all suddenly forget what McGuire does to a game? I have loved listening to Bob for over 15 years on TSN and Gord is a great play by play guy. But lets be honest, Pierre is a jackass and the majority of hockey fans agree. Van, people arent whiners because they think Pierre sucks, its an opinion, maybe stop kissing are to TSN staff and refs for a change and post the truth

McGuire and the rest of TSN does a great job every year. He knows his stuff inside and out and just because he knows more then all of you other m***** on this board, you guys don't like him. He's annoying, he's biased, he's loud, he says stupid things......anyone want some cheese with that??

MacKenzie and Miller come on here, when I'm sure they have much better things to do, and let us know their opinion. I remember Bob posted last year's team on here just before it was annouced to the public. Who the he** else would do that? I applaud them for that. Thank you guys.

Try watching some games with the American colour guys, or Glenn Healey, or Harry, I can't see who that guy is so it must be Sundin, Neale. Seriously, that guy would screw up his own mother's name if she were on the ice playing!

In the end, another great job by TSN and congratulations CANADA. We truely are the hocky powers of this world!!

Nice post. McGuire has a wealth of hockey knowledge and his game observations are very insightful. He can go abit over the top but so what. His unbridled passion for this game gives us an honest, no holds barred opinion. Controversial? Hell ya, and that is what makes him the best. He'll also freely admit mistakes on-air.

The NHL is prone to too much vanilla-like coverage - careful to avoid saying anything too upsetting or critical. Pierre McGuire gives us the straight goods from his professional opinion and he has a fine hockey track record and credibility to back it up.

Metallian, I've read this thread all the way through. It is really sad that you have fixated so much on this matter. You also lost me at 'Glenn Heally'.

As others have suggested, mute the television or chose to not watch. Sudburywolvesfan has nailed you well in the previous post. Exception being that McGuire has the credibility to back up his opinions.

Keep it up Pierre. It is refreshing to have such candour and passionate insight.

i was in the states for the us-canada game, and the color guy was referring to the US as "we".

who cares, fact is Maguire has everyone talking about his commentary, so seems to me like he's doing something right.

bias this, favoratism that... its human nature, deal with it...enjoy the game, laugh at his "insights" but 5 pages of whining over how biased a Canadian broadcaster was on a canadian station during a game involving Canada seems a tad overboard. If anything, appreciate the balance he brings between him and guys like miller and mackenzie, if there were no McGuires, TSN wouls be pretty boring methinks.

He was pointing out the absolute lack of Russian D on the Downie goal.But I agree, picking on Malkin is ridiculous. Obviously somebody dropped the ball, but geesh, its the World Junior Championship. Its played by boys. Boys, as in people who don't have the maturity of adult men yet. You can expect some screwups.

Let me get this straight...

You say that people aren't whining, just displaying an opinion.. Yet at the same time, you tell me to shutup and post the "truth". Nobody likes a hypocrit. Did it ever occur to you that maybe I think Pierre McGuire is a good colour commentator? Can't that be an opinion?..or does it have to be the same as yours to qualify? He does get loud and I don't always agree with what he says, but he's a damn smart and intelligent hockey man. If you don't care for him, hit the mute button.

Please tell me how constant posts on Pierre McGuire's commentary style day in, day out, is not whining? Why can't people post their opinions once and be done with it instead of posting 20 times in the same thread, just using different words to say the same bloody thing over and over again?

Let's face is, the WJC would be nowhere near where it is today if it wasn't for the commitment and the wondeful job that McGuire/Miller/McKenzie do year in and year out. McGuire is one of the best, and for good reason. I don't know how much these guys are getting paid, but its probably not enough, because these guys put in so much effort and really do their homework to know the ins and outs of every single player, league and the know-how's of the tournament.

How many of you actually have actually been to a WJC without seeing it on TSN before? Chances are you watched your first WJC on TSN, and that's what got you hooked, and it was probably this crew that got you hooked. TSN made this what it is, and these guy's arm damn good at what they do.

Compared to his peers (ie. Bob Cole, Harry Neale, Greg Millen ect) McGuire is in a class of his own. He gives you info and teaches you things you never know and knows more hockey then all of CBC's crew combined. His peers, ie. CBC, have trouble even getting the names right.

Considering it's a Canadian broadcast, directed towards Canadians, about Canadian athletes, I'm surprised there hasn't been more bias.

Can people honestly tell me if they watch the Olympics the channel they watch it on isn't heavily biased towards its country of origin? It's the same deal.

Sure, and it's equally annoying where ever it happens but there are many different levels of homerism and, unfortunately, Pierre Mcguire is among the worst. When I lived in Toronto I used to turn off tv audio whenever he was one of the commentators and have the radio tuned in on the game instead. A tv plus radio combo is a lifesaver when he's involved

I agree, TSN is great for providing the tournament for people in Canada to see. That, however, doesn't change the fact that Pierre McGuire sucks *** like nobody before. Maybe the title of the thread should therefore be changed to WJC Pierre McGuire Deappreciation thread.

Now as for you Metallian.. after that Glenn Healy comment I lost all respect I ever had for you If you guys thought Pierre on Malkin was bad then you should have seen Healy on Kovalchuk!
