Nice and important goal by Laakso, but even I admit it was Rask who won this game...

But, this might give Finland the boost they need in the following games.

Tukonen got shoved in so the Swedes have no argument. I am ill about the result. Sweden should be moving on. Finland were made to look terrible. Really terrible, Sweden just could not find a man to put the puck home.

In the NHL its a penalty 100/100 times. Though in international play it should atleast be a crease offside... He is pushed to the crease but its his sticks that trips the goalie so the finns gets a open net...

The idiot ref was almost down on his knees to look if the puck was in the net while Tukonen trips the goalie...

Tukonen was shoved in. Take off your blue and yellow glasses.

I'd say that is even more terrible.

Sweden was better in creating chances and all, but Finland had better goaltending, and better scoring. First 2 periods were all sweden, in the 3rd it was a bit more even....and finland was better in 4th

Why? Sweden's defenceman pushed the Finnish player into the crease.

I don't know what Sweden wants with a video review. There's nothing reviewable.

Exactly. I don't understand the whining. If you want to whine about something, whine about how your players couldn't get past Rask...

Is it me or did I hear the whistle blow like half a second before the goal was scored?

In international play, the referee blows the whistle when the puck goes in the net, whereas in the NHL, referees simply point at the net with no whistle. The whistle we heard was the one to award the goal.

They might not have disallowed it, but why not call upstairs in doubt of wether it was a goal or not? (Tukonen was in the goaltender's crease)

That would assume the ref had any doubt.

Looked like a clean goal to me.

Forget it, it was a goal. The finnish player got pushed into the crease. However, the questionable call was the penalty on Viklund (I think). But I guess that evens out since the majority of penalties in this game were questionable if not complete figments of Sindlers imagination.

In any case, again, congrats to the finns. Despite the shots I don't agree with those who think the Swedes made the Finns look terrible. Alot of bad angle shots right on Rask does not mean a real initiative in the game. Finland could have had a few goals before this, with pucks jumping close over the goal.

Congrats to Finland!

and again a great goalie-prospect from finland ... damn what are you doing with your kids in the hockey schools??

They only get food after 50 saves in daily practise. After 100 saves, their families get food. At 500 saves the water taps are turned on.

Congrats finland. I guess this was fate or something.

Its just how i lost some money to my brother today in Texas Holdém, when i was a big favourite and my brother was saved on the river.

The way Backstrom has played tonight, I'd definitely rate him top 10 for the '06 draft.

I couldn't see the game, so I can't juge if the penalty against Sweden was justified.

Anyway I'm happy for the Finns and they can thank Rask it seems. He must have played extremely well, a shotout by over 50 shots on his net.

For the Swedes they seemed to have bad luck too, they have surely been the better team, but Ras was like it seems an insurmountable obstacle.

Of course there's nothing to disallow, Sweden have themselves (well, and Rask maybe...) to blame for not scoring even though they dominated pretty much the whole game. Then there's a stupid penalty in the OFFENSIVE zone where the finns score, a ****** goal just as I thought it would be... :(

You can only review the goal if you doubt it went in or not. I don't think he had much doubts about that.

Clean goal....a Canadian type overtime goal :)

Except in Canada's case, there really needs to be no pushing the guy in ;)

We Win!

Oh baby!! Today Tuukka Rask = GOD
53 save shutout!!!! 53 SAVES!!!!!!!!
I <3 Matsuoka! Awesome referee, outstanding!
I'm so happy right now.
What an effort, what a game from the fighting lions!!!
Sweden was the better team hands down, but once again our goalie makes or brakes the game.
WHAT A GAME! WHAT A GOALIE!

OMG!!! I can't believe this! Sweden dominated the game and got robbed by Rask. Rask is clearly the best goalie in the tournament, this game prooved it. He made 53 saves in that game.

They were VERY strict on tripping today, so following those lines, it was a good call. He tripped the guy, plain and simple. But in adults games I doubt that would have been called. Maybe...Sweden would have benefitted too much from it.
