GDT: [WJC] Latvia vs. Canada, 6pm EST 10/8/22

So why isnt Wyatt Johnston on this team? Was he hurt or something?
Probably. Those CHL playoffs were really rough last season. Particularly the OHL series. Which is why the Sea Dogs won and why Canada is minus a few players, not just Johnston. Huge credit to those who played deep into these playoffs and still showed up for this tournament.

Side question on Cossa, does he always go down on every shot really early? Not sure if I like it.

I liked Jesper Wallstedt game way more earlier today. He kept his package together better. He had great stick handling ability already too.
Cossa is a good prospect, but Wallstedt is like the Elias Pettersson/Lucas Raymond of goaltending. It was never close, and Stevie Y got it wrong.

Canada looks disjointed, which isn't a surprise this early in the tournament and with a shorter than usual prep period, but Canada also looks slow. Not liking that.

This championship being held in Edmonton is a major mistake. The locals don't really appreciate it. Half empty arena for a Canada game? That's hell of a shame.

Latvia defense has played tight, but man their goalie has bailed them out with some incredible saves

Brutal by Canada. I swear the team Canada sent to the U-18 Hlinka a week ago could hang with this team the way they’re playing.
