GDT: WJC, Jan 2 QF, Cesko vs Canada, 8:30 EST

It's typical of Canada. Soon enough we'll hear that the goalie was too short or too thin.
Cause the goalie was to blame for the consistent sloppy coverage by the D or the DS inability to breakout with speed. Or the F's who misses the net repeatedly or the wide obvious pass. It's all the goalie obviously.

While the second goal was bad it is not the reason Canada lost. They had trouble scoring all tournament. (Latvia doesn't count)

Congrats to the Czechs, did enough to deserve the win.

Canada was better for the majority of the game, but not by enough to make the result particularly egregious. Not enough intensity, too much lackadaisical play. This was a tournament where things never really got going - and the team would have been in tough even if they had. Not impressed with how the team was coached in that the team in general seemed content with mediocre play and was not forceful enough in trying different things. Rousseau wasn't the main problem but he also wasn't near good enough to justify how the coaches just gave him the net, too many forwards seemed content to float around looking for the nicest pass, and the defencemen just weren't that good.

Ultimately it is a failed tournament, which is not acceptable. Hopefully Hockey Canada finds lessons to be learned (take the full 25 player allotment for one) and the team is better prepared for next year.

Canada got BONKED

It seemed to me Canada was happy to play outside the dots and kept trying to generate offence without getting in the paint and hammering rebounds home. So many times they had space for a wrap around but would continue to skate along the boards or throw it back to the D. They should have planted a man in front and jammed pucks into the crease for more offence. Frustrating hockey

Well the good news, you don't have to watch another junior hockey game till Dec 26 .

Czechs did a pretty good job boxing out the front of the net.

They got a bit lucky that nothing pinballed in the way the game winning goal did.

True, Canada is second only to the USA for number of haters (discounting Russia)

If you want to start punishing athletes for the crimes of their government there will be literally zero international sports
Russia makes sports a thing of the government. In US sports while they cause an incessant amount of pride in some cases, athletes' success is attributed to individuals and their teams.

Pretty hard to cheer for a team that started in 1996 with the sole purpose to win international tournaments.

Get rid of the USNTDP and pick a team from the USHL, NCAA and other junior leagues and see what happens?

More likely teams will adopt the American model. Trendsetters
