In the first he was pretty visible, but has been contained by the Canadians especially for the last 10 min. of 2nd and for the 3rd.

Thanks.

I suppose when it's 6-1, nobody on the 1 side is really standing out.

Nice to see he just had a good play. Back when I was listening, he sounded like he got a great chance on the doorstep but Glass came up with a big save.

Who gets to be the top goaltender in this tourney?

My vote goes to the Czech goaltender Schwarz

Probably. Of the four teams in the final four, Schwarz played the best. Montoya was bad. Glass didn't face enough shots to show us anything. Russia's goalies weren't too impressive.

Personally I think Evgeny Malkin is, and will be, a better hockey player than Alexander Ovechkin and I've thought this way ever since the draft. Ovechkin is a bit more dominant but Malkin has that steady and quiet presence and will be better team player imo.
Malkin was easily the gamebreaker against the USA in the semi-finals and he has an edge that I never expected. Stat-wise, he is up there with Ovechkin but I'd give him a slight nod since he is 9-10 months younger than AO.

Even though it's a blowout, anybody watching care to comment with an objective view on Malkin's play tonight?

He was pretty good. Actually, he and Ovechkin were probably the best Russians. You can see his size and skill.

The Canadian team is just that much better. After the 5 on 3 the Russians kind of died out. At even strength the Russians were overmatched.

Malkin and Ovechkin were decent. It's their teammates that couldn't keep up with the Canadians.

Honestly, the only guy who's really an embarassment out of all of this is Pierre Mcguire. Fair enough, you hate Russia and love Canada, fine. But try to maintain at least some sense of objectivity through all of this, would you?
Where's the hate?

Well, he seems to still have some spark in him, despite the score.
Thanks, I realize Canada is dominating as I expected, I'm looking for heart in this Pens pick

I know......they're not even DIVING anymore to try and draw penalties.

If there was ever a sure sign of the Russians giving up, that would be it.

Glad to have you aboard.

my opinion is if the swedish staff had the courage to play heino-lindbnerg from the start in the game against the US.Sweden would play the final game against canada!
And the score have not been 6-1 after 2 periods.
BLAME THE SWEDISH STAFF!!!!

YEA BABY! Canada's first gold since I started watching the tournament and is it ever a sweet one. Well deserved. :handclap: :handclap:

I think where Canada really is a cut above everyone is on defense. You could likely take an all star team of defenders from all the other teams and it still wouldn't be as good as Canada's.

They boast a great amount of talent up front too, of course, but I think where it really shows is on defense. If we had an NHL season, and Bergeron was with Boston, I think Canada still is much better than everyone.

Congrats to the Canadians on a much deserved win. I was cheering for Russia, but Canada is just too good. I was hoping for a more competitive game, but it doesn't really matter to me because I can't see it.

I'm just glad that no extracirricular stuff has happened. Hopefully this game ends cleanly.

Malkin is going to be a big-time playmaker... doesn't have the hard shot like AO, but is the best stickhandler i've seen since Kovalev..
hopefully the Pens will deal him to a team where he'll have a top end sniper to compliment the arsenal...

Summary: a good 1st period and beginning of 2nd, after that pretty boring. I expected more of this game.

Don't watch TSN or ESPN then. Of course he is going to be biased towards the Canadians. I'd expect the same for the Leafs or Canadiens if I went to watch Leafs TV or Le Jeu Francais.

Congratulations to an outstanding Canadian team and the players. They put in a great performance all tournament, and were almost flawless other than for about 10 minutes against Slovakia.

Great classy win by the boys.
When you're the best you don't need to showboat.
