GDT: [WJC] Finland vs. Czechia, 2pm EST 11/8/22

I demand a lot more from Niemelä, Hirvonen, Kemell and Koivunen in the second.

Lambert, actually trying to achieve something compared to a lot of our others.

Puutio is a plain awful defenceman at this level. I’m scared every single time when the Czechs attack while he is on the ice.
 
Typical Finland 1st period, they really need to do something to this. Same stuff every year, they are not ready when game starts.

I expect 2nd period to be much better.

I don’t like at all how Lamberts line isn’t able to use Lambert in any way.

This team is so out of sync today

Lambert only positive thing for Finland in 1st period. (Well, Roby's shot was nice too). Raty cannot win a FO no matter what..

Czechs feeding us our own medicine with their finnish-style trap. :D

I'm not at all impressed by our "physical" guys either. Huuhtanen would have been a better choice for every wing position in the fourth line.

Is Kapanen playing? I would like to see Lambert with someone who can score. Why not try Simontaival on the same line?

Koivunen can't score? Please.

The lines are fine, we're 4 periods into the tournament...

Exactly this! Lambert needs shooters. He´s able to create at this level, especially because of his superior skating.
Perhaps Järventie or Simontaival.
I actually believe Tuomaala and Huuhtanen would have been a better fit than his current linemates. Even if Tuomaalas repertoar is a bit thinner. He can atleast skate and shoot.

Even i like Samuel Helenius as a player this game isn't right time to take 5+20 penalties for boarding etc reason.
Idiotic penalties like Järventie's 2min will cost the win and 3 points.

Helenius is probably tallest player in the tournament
so he needs to be smart on that how he uses his size and physicality

Finland has in fact unfortunately offensively awful centers after Räty. And Räty has been absolutely awful in face-offs, and honestly he hasn’t looked too good even otherwise today. Looks somehow quite nervous. But anyway, after Räty, Finland is lacking horribly in offensive skill with their centers. That might really be too much of a problem to do really well in this tournament.

Lambert just needs guys around him that can skate relatively well and can get him the puck.

Every time he has the puck he makes something happen.

Well, he couldn't in the first?

The thing is that Koivunen is a good player but he's not your typical scorer. Or masterful in anything specific. He's good and he's probably even able to run his own line in someway.
My main point was that i don't believe Koivunen and Lambert have been able to do eachother a lot better even when they are two good individuals. What does that tell you wiseguy?

Can Huuhtanen and Tuomaala win even one faceoff for us?
if the answer is no then no need to bring those guys in the team.

But Samu Salminen can win faceoffs so why he's not in the team?
probably i don't need to say this 1000 times in here after this
but 2021 U18 WJC's Salminen won 70% of all his faceoffs and was best faceoff taker in that tourney.
