GDT: [WJC] Finland vs. Czechia, 2pm EST 11/8/22

Imagine being the coach and thinking:

"Hmm Kärpät's #1 goalie isn't good enough for our team, but Kärpät's #2 goalie will be our starter." (probably won't even be #2 goalie for Kärpät to be honest)

Hope Jatkola is ready!

Meriläinen seems to suck really hard?
Not impressed by Nurmi, Rafkin, Väisänen, Karvinen (first game), Järventie (lacks intensity), Puutio, Jurmo and last but not least? Pennanens coaching.

It's so horrible. The reasoning behind it was even worse and complete bs. Giving me the impression of being an amateur.

The best damn coaches can handle the best players available and make them a winning team. Pennanen had the players and goalies to do that.

Finns look brutal.

No flow to this game
With the puck they're actually really good. Against the puck they're sometimes a bit lost. Plus they have a poor goaltender and took a dumb penalty. But with the puck they're good. Had quite a bit of offensive zone time.

4 shots on goal after 15 minutes isn't good enough. Possession doesn't matter if you're not doing anything with it.

What a seldom dumb turnover by Svozil. Fully deserving of a benching. Bednar bailed him out big time.

Please, Räty, Niemelä, Kemell, Hirvonen or Lambert. Give us some hope.

Important that Järventie produces because i'm not sold on his slow motor, skating and lack of intensity. Somewhat strong in the corners perhaps and a good shot? But he gives me a sluggish impression.

They just have to play better against the puck and it could work. Cycling works, especially vs kids. Eventually in the 3rd the Czechs would be bound to tire if the Fins could keep the pressure on. Of course if the Fins keep on crippling themselves against the puck or with poor goaltending it's not gonna work. But cycling, be patient with the puck, can be an effective strategy.

Jesus, Meriläinen wasn't sure he had the puck there either. Really, really shaky.
