My guess is because there wasn't an outbreak at the start of the year the way there is one right now. And having players in the taxi squad leaves a bunch of players inactive. By not having a taxi squad, players played.

Edit: I just realized that this is the WJC thread. I thought this was the Belpedio thread for some reason and was talking about the NHL decision to suddenly add Taxi Squad. But for this short tournament, it wouldn't have been a bad idea to have a few extra guys on taxi squads.

Well it's two positives that we're aware of. So even if what you say is true about "half those rapid tests" later testing negative, two positives are going to sound off alarms.

Happened to two people I know. Tested positive and then tested negative multiple times after.

This will certainly impact the quarter-final matchups whether USA is still in it or not by that point. Looks like their game vs Sweden on Thursday is at risk. They'll also likely be losing at least two players for the duration of the tournament.
