He's a case where just making the team is a big win in itself. He wasn't on the national team radar at all just two years ago and he probably wouldnt have gotten a sniff had the team not been missing a bunch of guys. It's excellent experience in any case.Great to see Foerster waking up. I like the Grieg line with Roy and Dufour. Sucks for Kidney....but barring injuries, I'd be surprise to see him back in the lineup. When it will be time to choose between Gaucher and him, they'll keep the big guy.

TC always likes to have guys that can fit a role on the roster, they always go in with a very conservative mindset. Foerster has a big shot and is a bit of a PP specialist and Gaucher can take a defensive zone faceoff in a pinch. Kidney doesn't have that easy role. It's the thing that always bugs me with our federation, they don't have much imagination.I don't disagree. Still ,I think he did great in the short period of time he was used. And before today's game Foerster was invisible. Gaucher isn't used that much. And usually, older players have the upper hand. But again, I guess Gaucher's physique won the spot.
Lefebvre was smaller than Desharnais. If I played with Bedard and McTavish I'd probably be in the top 10 in scoring and I'm almost 80.
If statistics are the key indicator, are your saying Roy is a better prospect than Bedard? Cooley? Hughes? I use my eyes and base my judgments on what I see on the ice and not what I read on the game's statistical reports. As for Patrice Lefevre; Patrick Emond; Norm Dupont and Sylvain Locas, they are all top ten in QMJHL all-time scorers. Their glossy statistics didn't help them at the next level as they had to pay to see an NHL game just like the rest of us mortals.
Roy was the most used forward and 2nd most used player on team Canada
He played 3 min more than McTavish
I find that hard to believe though. He didn't play the pk, is on the 2nd pp unit, and didn't get double-shifted. His linemate Greig only played 14:34 according to the stat sheet. The sheet also says his other linemate Dufour played 12 min.
How much improvement can be had on startups? Is that not a function of an individual’s attributes like fast twitch muscles, reflexes, natural speed? I suspect some things are what they are and can’t be significantly improved upon but I’m not sure if it’s the case for startups and quicker feet.
It's more that Kidney is competing with guys like Johnson and Bedard at this tournament. At Christmas he will have more of a spot with Bedard in the middle and Johnson gone. Yager & Fantilli will arrive but still, there will be a lot more spots available.TC always likes to have guys that can fit a role on the roster, they always go in with a very conservative mindset. Roy and Mysak got points tonight ?
We saw clearly last night why Forester is playing instead of Kidney: he’s bigger, stronger and faster at these two players comparative stage of development. If he continues to develop, next year’s WJC will be Kidney’s opportunity to shine and demonstrate whether he will be an impactive NHL player.Don't know why they keep using Forester
I remember when Rod Zamuner made Team Canada at the OG in Nagano. The result was as predicted At least they are less dumb these days they invite deep guys with some skills.TC always likes to have guys that can fit a role on the roster, they always go in with a very conservative mindset. Kidney hammered a couple of players in his short stint on the ice so far. I don't remember Foerster doing that.We saw clearly last night why Forester is playing instead of Kidney: he’s bigger, stronger and faster at these two players comparative stage of development.
