It definitely is, but this year also does feel similar to 2014, where it was kind of considered wide open after 1, a semi-consensus was built and then the entire top 10 was probably as chalk as we’ve ever seen. I hope that doesn’t happen this year but I feel quite a few drafts where consensus is all over the place end up being somewhat predictable.I feel like it’s still pretty wide open tbh
I agree with your list. Too bad we can't find a way to squeeze MTL a little to swap draft picks.Feels like the top 5 are starting to solidify.

I could honestly be talked into about 7 guys. I just want us to go d because I trust Madden picking d over f.
I copied this from the main prospects board from a poster named Caser who lives in Latvia and annually scouts all the Russian prospects in great detail. He rated Silayev #1 above Demidov. Interestingly, his take is very different from the video above in terms of thinking the game. Given that he lives in Russia (or close enough) I think his opinion is well worth giving considerable weight to. He would consider him at 2OA despite mediocre offensive skills.
1. LHD Anton Silayev
While everyone keeps mentioning how well Anton Silayev skates for a 6’7” guy, for me what stands out even more than that is how smart he is – in his debut season on the KHL level he has been almost flawless in terms of the positional game, for me that’s something pretty much unseen. Naturally for a big kid like him a lot of stuff should still be worked on, he will need quite some time for that too, but the only long-term concern I see in him is the rather mediocre puck skills, I doubt that it can be improved too much (which is also why I’m not a fan of the Victor Hedman comparison), therefore overall his attacking upside is doubtful, aside from the powerful shot, of course. With that being said if I’m an NHL GM, I wouldn’t be hesitating much to take him at 2nd this year, he looks that good to me.
Certain fans here would take a boxer over a hockey player with 3rd overall. The thing about Silayev being a boxer, lol he'd be perfect on a defensive pair with Zellweger.
Silayev on his offside and ready to drop anyone who goes after tiny Zellweger.
If a guy is 6'7 and can punch like Rempe and skate better than most sub-6' players... all he would have to be is somewhat above average in hockey IQ and soft skills for me to love him at 3OA.Certain fans here would take a boxer over a hockey player with 3rd overall.
Couldn’t have said it any better myselfIf a guy is 6'7 and can punch like Rempe and skate better than most sub-6' players... all he would have to be is somewhat above average in hockey IQ and soft skills for me to love him at 3OA.
And those people should be ignored instead of engaged over the same one sided over emphasized skill set.Certain fans here would take a boxer over a hockey player with 3rd overall.

Time for PV to start sending signals about our interest in Demidov if he's available ...

IMO this is the wrong draft to be expecting guys to step in and make an immediate impact. For a third overall that is a long time to wait. Teams picking this high generally rely on their top of the draft talent having an impact during that timeframe.
I've warmed up to him a lot. I think my preferences as of today would beAfter all this time, I've changed my vote. Dickinson has won me over. He just screams what this team needs.
Yup that’s my top 3, and I wouldn’t cry if they went Demidov, I just prefer the other 3 over him.i'd be happy with silayev, lindstrom, or dickinson
I wouldn't be upset but I'd have trepidations. He seems like a big gamble.Yup that’s my top 3, and I wouldn’t cry if they went Demidov, I just prefer the other 3 over him.
Its a great thing to have your top skilled players be able to go in the trenches.Certain fans here would take a boxer over a hockey player with 3rd overall.
Agreed. That Verbeek quote makes more sense to me actually. He said something about pack mentality or smthIts a great thing to have your top skilled players be able to go in the trenches.
Panthers are a good example of this. Top skill that go along with willingness to get dirty. They don't have any Ryan Reaves types because they got guys who can play top mins AND take care of things. When the playoffs roll around, those are the guys you want.
