I knew this kid was on their radar. There was a tweet saying the Rangers had an extremely long interview at the combine. I know I predicted at some point that they could take him if all of their other options were gone. But, I thought it was more likely they'd try to move into the high teens to get him. I didn't know how highly they valued him. Nothing about what the Rangers did ended up shocking me. The information was out there about the players they took, and it is easy to see looking back as to why the Rangers grabbed the kids they did, But, half this board is so over-the-top reactionary, you get the meltdowns that you saw. Fortunately, most of the posters I respect the most were their dependable, level-headed selves.

Me too. Hockey, more than other sports, relies on players savvy, being able to create their own space with anticipation and smarts. Other sports lean more toward measurables. But a smart player looks very fast on the ice. Even if the player doesn’t skate particularly fast.
