With Andrew Ladd ending his career, only 3 Atlanta Thrashers are left

The team did suck at drafting. They'd get the odd hit once in a while, but otherwise that team didn't really have good scouting. The only really good picks they made were in the top three and one of them was the biggest bust in NHL history.

Well, to give Patrik Stefan a break he wouldn't be deemed a bust if he wasn't drafted so high. Other than being the first-overall pick he was a very solid NHLer.

Just remember on the Jets our top prospects coming in the return was John Klingberg before drafting Scheifele.
Yeah, and that was a weird draft year anyway. There was no consensus #1, but the Sedins were the prize of the draft and they couldn't have went 1-2. After the Sedins, the best picks in the first round were Martin Havlat and Barrett Jackman, so its not like that draft was littered with talent.

I loved the Jerseys everyone hated.
These ones were awesome:

These ones were terrible:

All I'll really remember of the Thrashers:
Dan Snyder tragedy.
Kovalchuk Crosby rivalry and that meme of Kovy pointing at his stats
Waddell trading 20 1sts for a few games of Keith Tkachuk

Do you have enough people that will show up now? Was that not one of the main issues, among others, both times a hockey team left?

To be fair, people weren’t showing up because they had an ownership group that seemed to be actively sabotaging the team. And that’s something that’s going to keep fans away, regardless of where the team is located.

Hot take maybe... not really... (even at the expense of the Jets not having returned):

Arizona should have lost their team well before any other franchise ever should've even thought about it.

I actually really liked the ones with "THRASHERS" down the sleeve.

Couldn't agree more but Uncle Gary was never going to let that happen. Look at recent years.... he still won't let anyone relocate the Yotes.

Pretty high standards for hockey discussion from someone on a hockey forum
I don’t mean disrespect. I’m talking about the fact why we still talk about them like they were a dynasty ?

I really liked their original road uniforms (the navy ones with the brick-red coloured shoulder yokes and the stylised thrasher silhouette logo). That was a unique look that could have gained traction if the team stuck with it and wasn't so terrible for most of its existence.

The "dumb little tornado" - bird with hockey stick - on the other hand, was a classically bad example of poor 90's sports design.... And the text-logo alternate was possibly even worse. woof

lol people dogging on the name?

the name and logo were the only things they did right
I was with you until you said logo. The tornado chicken was a bad logo.

The name was totally fine though. Vaguely aggressive sounding, 2 syllables, reflecting the area. All good.

Cuz Gary actually works for the owners of the teams and they don't want Arizona leaving the league. Trust me if 31 nhl owners said hey Gary we are tired of subsidizing Arizona and think its time to try them elsewhere, they would be in Houston already

As for the Thrashers name, it was fine. I'm actually one of the few Jets fans who didn't want the name Jets when they came back and thought Winnipeg Falcons would be a good name because 1. Winnipeg Falcons were an Olympic winning hockey team from the past and 2. The tie in with Atlanta (football team)

I love the color of the baby blue jerseys but the sleeves were asymmetrical and it really bothered me.
Same here, to an extent at least. On the rare occasion that I wear mine these days, I try to stay on the left of others if I get the sense they are the overly critical hockey fashion police. Not worth the noise.

If I'm a few drinks in, really don't care what they say about it and see how they feel when I go into a critique about their team's jersey.

Unless it's a flawless one like the Whale. I actually make the ultimate sacrifice a few years ago, gave my precious Whalers jersey to my brother as a birthday present (I knew he would wear it more than me, and appreciate/love it just as much). Still hurts a bit though, can't lie.
