I mean that’s a good problem. But yeah I mean let’s take Upamecano off the board. The other name that has been most connected has been Ben White at Brighton. He would be very useful because he can also play in the midfield. I think that’s who LFC focuses on now. Agent Adam Lallana has to get to work. Maybe LFC can throw Brighton like Nat Phillips or a Rhys Williams/Billy Koumetio loan to facilitate a deal, but Liverpool need to do something in January. They literally have zero fit center backs.
I'd love it if Liverpool signed Ben White but I'm more prepared for them to Ragnar Klavan this one. They need one or two CBs who can be not bad in the Premier League and who will be ok with being third and fourth choice next season.

Yeah and United thought Bruno couldn't pass properly.
Not saying you are wrong, just passing along what I’ve heard. I would be thrilled with Kounde at this point. They need to find a CB somewhere.

Yeah. You need that too. But another utility guy would help too. Not sure who that Klavan proxy would be. White is the only one that I know they have scouted besides Upamecano. Not that I know anything special. Haven’t seen my “source” since March

He’s expensive but he is a long term target and he plays two positions. Plus LFC are going to be desperate with literally no healthy center backs. If they do sign someone it’ll be someone that they have been after for a while. They won’t pull a random FIFA signing out of their back pocket. I’m still not convinced they are signing anyone though.

I just don't see it, but I have no real knowledge about how Brighton think about these things. He is signed on a long contract playing for a team that probably won't go down, but who might risk getting dragged into the relegation battle. You would think they would only sell White if they got a ridiculous offer?

What I don't get is why Liverpool didn't go Rodon on someone in the summer. Actually would have made more sense if Liverpool had signed him than Spurs. Not saying he is brilliant (don't know yet), but he seems able to fill the kind of role a January signing would have to fill.

I'm sure there are decent CDs around that could slot in.

I don't think White or anyone from Brighton is moved on this window. Tough year for replacing mid season.

Yeah, just that scouting on size or stats without context is stupid.

Swansea pissed Liverpool off this summer after reneging on a Nat Phillips transfer don’t think that door was open.

Same goes for Bissouma. Bloom has been good at standing firm before with Dunk. He won't want to sell an important piece in the winter, especially with another relegation battle looming.

I mean, Ozan Kabak was supposedly suggested at the end of the window this summer, but Schalke wanted closer to 25-30 for him (from what the internet rumor mongers and twitter folks suggested). Schalke is still broke, so I guess he could be an option.

I don't think selling a guy that there's playing time is really hard. I also think at this stage, you can't rely on any of the main senior central defenders they do have to be healthy. Even though Virgil was healthy for a long run, he's getting older, and has had injury issues in the past. Matip is basically made of glass, and I don't know that I trust Gomez over a full season till he can show it. I think it's more a matter of not wanting to overpay, knowing clubs who will try and do business with them will try and gouge, and knowing that the money really honestly, isn't there either.

I think there are nice options out there. (Not rumored to LFC)

It depends on the price but I trust the transfer committee to find the right guy.

I think Kounde is better, but I think Kounde is too small for England. Man City thought he was too small for them this summer apparently so they went for Ruben Dias instead

What I heard is that Sevilla wanted way more than the 55 million reported

Yes, the price for top footballer seems out of control.

Don't get me wrong I don't blame any selling clubs to ask crazy money for their top players. It just seem to me though that even for rich clubs it seems absurd to pay above €80M for a top player instead of €25M or €30M for a top prospect (not at a top club) with the talent to become a world class player

Top clubs have a lower hit rate with top prospects than do teams more focused on development, like Gladbach or Dortmund. So they're paying for that development which it's harder for them to do without hurting their own results. And getting those big fees is what helps those developmental clubs maintain their top class facilities & trainers.

He was close to a move to Saudi Arabia which makes me believe he’s looking for a last pay check. If mls can offer similar money then maybe.
I really have no idea how MLS is doing financially. They seem to have a good amount of money because let’s be honest they don’t generally spend the money they have well but yesterday the window opened for transfers and it seems there’s been lots of in-league transfers. MLS is also different in the way they do transfers though. When a player is sold, MLS gets a good amount of money from that and it doesn’t go entirely to the club.
