100% agree. I’d add Mounds bars to that list as well. There’s a special place in hell reserved for people who deliberately hand out Good n Plenty’s and Mounds bars at Halloween.
I'll gladly take all of your Mounds bars. You can keep the Almond Joys, though.

I never minded Good N' Plenty as a kid when it was free on Halloween, but there's not a chance I'd ever have purchased a box of it. Never. Chocolate, always.

I was a mechanic for eastern Airlines in 1985 and went to work one night and all mechanics were locked out,it was over. I saw the same thing happen when Northwest got absorbed by Delta, all locked out one night, state police set up a schedule to get the toolboxes.

Remember folks, fall back one hour tonight on clocks. (I hate it).

And if its been a year replace those smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries. It just may save your life.

We actually just had all 11 detectors replaced in our house. They had exceeded their life expectancy.
I read this and my first thought was it sounds like something my Dad would tell me on a Saturday morning phone call

I don't know if all fire departments do this, but ours will come out and install smoke detectors for free if you call them. They also regularly go door to door in various neighborhoods offering to do it.

ours doesnt. Then again mine are all hard wired per most up to date building codes.
I live in an apartment but sometimes I'm tempted to have the guys come out and check things independently because my faith in our current management and maintenance team is, shall we say, pretty much nonexistent.

the service I hired to update ours, thats all they do, will also for a small fee go to homes for handicapped and seniors and change out batteries or replace if needed.
I think they really found themselves a nice niche business.
Plus in Mass. You cant sell a home without Fire Dept certificate attesting to you have correct by code alarms in correct locations in proper working order.

not always, but it depends on whether it's battery or hard-wired..... all buildings really should have talking fire/smoke/CO2 detectors as part of their building codes or at least one talking alarm in addition to the traditional alarms for those hard of hearing

I don't hate it, I love it. Best night of the year, a much needed extra hour of sleep.

It's the spring forward that I hate.

Of course, I'm kinda on board with that proposal to just do away with DST altogether. Seems unnecessary.

Dumb question maybe.....how do you know if it is non functional not based on battery? Just push the button or will that give you a false result.

I would also point out that the smoke / CO detector is a really bad idea....smoke alarm needs to be mounted high, CO is a heavier gas that should be mounted only a few feet off the floor....by the time it detects CO if mounted on the ceiling it's too late

its all up to Mass state code where what gets mounted. As well as what has voice and where.
I believe I have , per State law, in garage 2 heat/smoke. …

Hallways 3of them Smoke CO…
bedrooms smoke….

basement smokes.

The laws here are pretty strict and mapped out. Where, height, distance, etc…

And anything newer, must be hardwired.

If you are ever building anything, check not only local but State fire codes/laws.

I have no idea what NY requires, but whenever I have been in a RE transaction, you have to sign that there is A smoke detector....no mention of amount or location requirements

NY is weird what they regulate.....I install radon systems to deal with radiation.....no certification or inspections required.....but the person who cuts your hair or nails must be licensed.........

And I believe can only be done within 3 months of deal or must re do.
very different here. Without local fire dept certification you cant pass papers.
