Yup, Ray is a great guy and he ended up making the Peg his home but that trade was so bad for the Jets.

At the time, Ray was putting up decent numbers with the Whalers, but he was playing big minutes with Ron Francais and Sylvain Turgeon, on their top line the previous 2 seasons.

He was like a slower version of Paul Maclean, slower and without the hands.
I heard that Fergy had just about lost it with Babych and his non-physical play. Fergy thought Babych was capable of much more and after watching Babs stand around without doing much in the physical dept. in a loss in Hartford, he destroyed a few things in the press box and made the trade that night to get Neufeld.
