Winnipeg Jets History

Sunday, December 15, 2019 marks the 40th Anniversary of Tuxedo Night.

I was at that game!
My dad took us and we were up in the corner behind the net. By up , I mean as far up that side you go be. I was pressed up against the wall and I could feel the cold lol

Wish I could remember this, but this was just before my 4th birthday :-( Sesame Street was far more important

Well i was 7 years old and I was more concerned about the Six Million Dollar Man!

So the pic of Buff was taken in that jersey because they had nothing else at the time?
I recall it showing up on social media very, very early. Like same day as the announcement of their return or even just before. I didn't get the impression it was orchestrated by the team at all. Just an old jersey from 1.0 times.

Was there ever any thought on using the the old jerseys in 2011 or was this just a one off?

It was part of a Panini America photo shoot at the 2011 NHL draft. Buff was doing an autograph signing at the draft with Panini and they were doing the typical Rookie draft class pictures and got Byfuglien to put on the jersey and take a picture

Ray is from St.Boniface.

We got hosed on that trade.

Yup, Ray is a great guy and he ended up making the Peg his home but that trade was so bad for the Jets.

At the time, Ray was putting up decent numbers with the Whalers, but he was playing big minutes with Ron Francais and Sylvain Turgeon, on their top line the previous 2 seasons.

He was like a slower version of Paul Maclean, slower and without the hands.

Found this on youtube.

Third period of the Chicago Cougers vs Winnipeg Jets from the Winnipeg Arena October 27, 1972.

Jets Win!

I came here to post this very link as my friend had sent it to me.

I was at the game and the funny thing is the only thing I really remembered was that we won, Tkachuk got his 50th into the empty net and for some reason I remembered that when they did the 3 Stars in the building instead of giving us Tkachuk as the first star... it was "You the fans"...

Based on those highlights it seemed like Zhamnov didn't play that game.

Remember the same thing watching on TV.

I assume it was because that could have been the last home game ever - if they had lost it & the season finale in Anaheim, it would have been. They probably planned to do it as a thank you before the game ever started.
