There were moments in the first half of the game where it felt like the ICE might be in trouble as they took a rash of penalties, but they took control in the second half and never looked back. Nice to see some scoring from the fourth line which provided 3 goals on the night including a pair from Steven Arp.

The best is yet to come for the ICE as Savoie and Lambos should be returning soon, and possibly Milne, although he may be AHL bound...

Good game, I was a little worried when Maddocks let in that early goal barely 10 seconds in, but things settled down after that. Med Hat is a much improved team at first blush, they are going to be back off the mat after a terrible season. I don't recall seeing them play the ICE that hard at all last year.

And way to go Geekie on getting the hat trick!

@jetsmooseice on Post #335 said it was due to a new ice plant being installed at Wayne Fleming Arena.

That's what I read in a Mike Sawatzky article in the Winnipeg Free Press. And I took a peek inside the Wayne Fleming Arena when my kids were in Mini U during the summer, and I can confirm that it was an absolute scene of workers and activity.

ICE are off to a decent start on this extended road trip though, 4 and 0!

Very frustrating game on Saturday night for the ICE. They couldn't get much sustained pressure on the Warriors, as soon as they got the puck into the MJ zone, the Warriors effectively broke up whatever the ICE were doing. Lots of whiffs and shots that went wide. It was a good effort but for whatever reason it just didn't click. In some respects it was a fairly typical "second game in two nights" kind of game.

Nice bounce back performance by the ICE with solid special teams, 4 goals and 2 PP, 2 SH. Great performance by Daniel Hauser with a spectacular behind the back glove save that will live on in highlight reels for a long time to come.

Makes me wonder if the ICE should have started Cowan vs. Regina last weekend and Hauser against the high-octane MJ Warriors... might have still had a perfect record!

Not a great performance by the ICE against a weaker opponent. They had many chances that they failed to capitalize on including multiple breakaways. Tons of turnovers and miscues kept giving Victoria chances too. This one could have easily slipped away on them, and it almost did with the Royals clawing back to within one late in the third.

Dawson Cowan played a better game than he did against Moose Jaw, it was nice to see him come up big a few times even if it started falling apart in the 3rd period when he let in two goals.

I see Karter Prosofsky has been back in the lineup for the last week or so, but he hasn't actually played yet. I will be interested in seeing him back on the ice after almost a year away, and I'd be curious to hear about what happened that caused his prolonged absence. We don't get too many ICE stories in the local media, but maybe the one guy who does cover them regularly, Mike Sawatzky of the Free Press, will write something up.

Very sparse looking crowd in Victoria, it was announced at 2,301 but it looked like it was maybe half that. It seems that a lot of WHL teams have taken major post-pandemic attendance hits... the only ICE game I've seen so far this season with a crowd that looked too big for Wayne Fleming Arena was the season opener in Brandon.

What a frenzy at the end of the game. ICE nearly got screwed out of this one by a bogus goaltender interference no-goal and some questionable penalties. Great performance by Hauser, and a couple of four point games (Lambos/Pederson).

ICE almost let that game last night slip away until Conor Geekie decided to walk right in after the Rockets' tying goal late in the 3rd and end it himself

Crazy Zloty lacrosse goal, I don't understand how a defenseman ends up alone behind the other team's net like that, but I can't complain about the results. We'll be seeing that in highlight reels for years to come.

Hauser gets his 50th regular season win with the ICE which is impressive enough on its own, but is downright mind blowing when you consider that he has a grand combined total of 5 regulation/OT/shootout losses.

Anyway, can't argue with the ICE's record at 11-1, but some of these games are getting to be too close for comfort towards the end.
