Still no stats 10 weeks into the season.
Checked CFL game stats today (yeah, shocking that there's no season stats... WTF?) - they state that the Bombers as a team gave up one interception, but then listed an INT to both Collaros and Brown. Looks like TSN has accurate stats, thankfully. What's going on with CFL.ca?

You can also tell which sports writers only read the (incorrect) box scores and which watch the actual game this way, I guess...

Worth mentioning again that I’m still pissed that wasn’t RTP on the play that took out Collaros.

Morons online (who most seem to have the Roughriders logo as their avatar) are saying “it was perfectly clean with an unfortunate result” and “Zach was still eligible to be hit” and “what else was the defender supposed to do with him so low to the ground?” but the apparent precedent is head contact is ALWAYS called. Honestly it wasn’t too far off from the Simoni Lawrence hit on Collaros when he was in Saskatchewan. Dirty, dirty play that absolutely should’ve been overturned. Dudes get penalized for rolling into a QB because they couldn’t stop their momentum all the time. Has to be called.

Brown catching fire and coming back to destroy the Elks is just the football gods’ way of helping us out after that horrific miscarriage of justice.

Hopefully Collaros is okay. Go Als tonight!

Brown looks a lot better than the Brown I saw in BC last year, then again the Elks D are not as good a s BC's was. Still though that was a phenomenal effort by him.
I mean I disagree. I think Brown looked very similar to what we saw in BC last year, just minus the two pick 6's. Probably more composed than that first start but the skills were evident even then.

In pre-season some were saying (note im not saying you in particular but here and irl) that Brown should be cut or demoted to 3rd string. I pushed back hard on that narrative as everything I've seen had him rated as one of the top young QBs in the CFL, just no chances yet. I think he showed why last night. In reality, there's a non-zero chance Brown leaves in FA for a starting job. When's the last time that happened that a rookie QB the Bombers brought in and developed left for a starting chance elsewhere? Danny McManus? Lol

I was likely one of those people lol.

I think he showed glimpses last year but still made many mistakes (which is fine, he’s young and hasn’t played a ton) but last night he cut down the mistakes A TON. I think we are seeing him refine his game and the glimpses are becoming more the norm rather than just glimpses.

Last night I say a guy thrown into the fire that was confident read what was in front of him and lead us to a comeback win. I didn’t see that in BC he was erratic with his throws and I’m sure very nervous, as he said ZC has tutored him well and I am very positive about his future

Never bail. I was bitching and Holden can attest to that, the entire first quarter. Bombers are never down and out
My favourite was "it's only gonna get worse" at 22-0 with Collaros injured. My thought was HOW is it going to get worse than this, it there was literally nowhere to go but up from here. Tre Ford certainly sparked that EDM 0ff but he wasnt hanging 50 on the Bombers, no chance of that. The question was how much better it would get, would it be enough.

Despite Collaros injury, despite the score I was still feeling oddly ok. I knew it was a matter of time before D adjusted, question whether Brown would have the juice to make the comeback all the way. I figured it would end up 28-25 Bombers or 25-24 Elks in the end. Of course Brown blew away my highest expectations haha.

Still no stats 10 weeks into the season.
This is f***ing unbelievable. You can see a PDF that gets published on like Wednesday that updates the stats from the previous weeks for the league leaders in certain categories. That's it. Absolute joke. I coached high school hockey here in Winnipeg for 6-8 years and they had a working stats page for all the players, including C division which is like house league/barely even competitive. High school sports has a better site than CFL. This is easily the biggest boondoggle I can recall. Nevermind even the timeline, WHY SCRAPE THE OLD SYSTEM BEGORE THE NEW ONE WAS WORKING! This is the most upsetting thing this year, IMO. This Genius sports partnership is a joke.

There were a few key points in the game where Dru Brown really shone. His throws became more accurate as the game went on, and that TD to Lawler was a work of art by both players (an underthrown ball there would have been a sure INT).

There were the 2 penalties that put us deep in our own zone, 1st and 30. He didn't force the ball, got 10 then 20+.

His playaction was so convincing the cameraman got fooled twice - I think this helped open up the run game a bit (though Oliveira was an absolute beast and Demski ran well, too).

He has decent agility, got out of several tight situations, but wasn't over-eager to run, and made smart decisions on the run. That extra little zip from young legs gave him time.

At least 2 times he rolled out, getting chased down, but waited for his receivers to get open, cool under pressure. I couldn't believe the patience he had the time he rolled left and sat just behind the LoS for what felt like 5 full seconds...

He's been developed well, I wish we could keep him but I guess Collaros' contract is too long. I've seen QB tandems in the past, but unusual for one to be a perennial MOP. Unless he loves our culture so much he's willing to wait, but a smart young QB will have a lot of starting options in the CFL... Someone will throw money at him.

Another QB bites the dust with Fine going down tonight. Non contact injury, but didn't look horrible.

Considering the sheer ridiculous number of QB injuries this year gotta say the QB play has been pretty decent.

Dolegala picked immediately undermines my point but still. And..... Als backup Caleb Evans now picked. I shouldn't say things haha

excuse me but all the love for dru brown is misplaced....this was the Elks, when was the last time they won a game??????????????????...what is dru browns win loss record before then???...exactly!!....lets see how he does against teams like then lions, argos, montreal, stamps before really saying that dru brown would be a first string QB on any other team in the league,.....other than a win against Ott. coming off the bench, he has at best been mediocre.........in training camp and pre season piggy t outplayed dru brown...........

Whats more concerning is zachs play...this is the third game where the BB and his play has been been pathetic from the start

Impressive. Most uninformed post I've seen on HF in a looong while.

Dru Brown's record as a starter? 0-1. That game was with all the 2nd and 3rd stringers vs BCs starters late in the year last year. And in fact he looked pretty good in that game throwing for 3 TDs.

Other than 30% of his season in 2022 where he looked great, he's been just above average. Nevermind 100% of his 2023 where looked amazing as well. Solid burn bro!

No one is saying Dru Brown is a Hall of Famer, hell barely anyone has even said he's a starter in the CFL. Yet. But all signs point super positive. Most players bust, it's the reality. However he led the team to the 2nd biggest comeback in team history, has consistently shown a knack for coming big in big moments, and looks the part of an emerging star. Why worry about what might happen and embrace the energy.

Seriously I feel bad for you looking for the negatives. Brown is legitimately a top 2 or 3 CFL QB prospect in this league. Pigrome is a decent lottery ticket, and theres plenty to love about his upside. But any real football expert will tell you pre-season isn't football, it's a skills competition. Brown was always the lock as the up and comer and he showed why last night. 22 points is an impressive deficit to overcome, just enjoy that.

Crud. I guess I've lost my title.

Side note: What are you doing up so late/early?

Tough day at work so I've been drinking. Haven't in a long while, so its hitting me different haha. Probably why I couldn't resist responding to that.

BTW I still don't recall where this supposed beef between us started. Honestly over the last couple years we've agreed more than disagreed I feel haha. But I'll be honest I have more fun disagreeing/debating people than agreeing.

Why you up so late lol?
