Bombers had the game with less than a minute to go...just needed the D to make a play. instead, 2 plays later it's an Al's TD for the win.

Last year it was respectable to write it off as fluke and say to run it back. This year, there are more questions about what to do.

It probably starts at QB. I love Collaros and he's a Ring of Honour guy but he just wasn't himself this year and wasn't as dominate. With Brown's emergence and with Collaros playing absolutely awful in another Grey Cup, and this time he wasn't even injured, I think what would've been a decision that was "definitely Zach, good luck as a starter Dru" becomes a bit tougher now. I think they'll stick with Collaros but I don't know if that's the right move. Does the savings in cap going from Collaros to Brown mean you keep both Brady and Schoen? Plus, down the stretch the offence just wasn't very good, which is quite the indictment when you have the West MOP in Brady, Lawler, and Schoen.

Hall is another guy who should be taking criticism for this game. I have long had it out for him as DC despite the good results he brings and I thought last week he called a perfect game. This game was shit. Letting that awful Montreal offence march all over you is awful. Fajardo is garbage under pressure so of course we rush three often and play way too conservatively. His "let's let them march down the field but stop in the red zone" philosophy majorly bit them in the ass today.

Further, in general, this core is just getting older. Bryant (and the offensive line more generally) took a step back this year. Bighill is not the same player at all anymore and probably shouldn't be relied on as a gamebreaker. Jeffcoat is good but oft-injured. Willie stills make an impact. The secondary is getting older.

Once is a fluke. Twice isn't. And it wasn't the kicker's fault this time. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some change.

I also wonder if we lose Buck Pierce to someone as a head coach.

Farhan Lalji made it sound like the Bombers would likely need to choose one of McManus or Walters this offseason. I wonder if that's accurate and if so who they go with.
He was way off off in his speculation about O'Shea.
I think Farhan is as much an insider as you and I are

f*** this team. This Als team did f***ing nothing. They by no means earned a win. They did nothing. f*** them. The Bombers just completely forgot to show up. They handed the win to Montreal. Bullshit.
That's life in the CFL, man. Big plays (and big mistakes) are what makes this league fun, but also maddening at the same.

This Als offence - which saw Fajardo go 18/25 for 175yds, 1TD, and 1INT last week against TOR who had 8! turnovers - got Fajardo to go 21/26 for 290yds, 3TDs, and 1INT tonight. They saw a flaw in the Bombers defence and schemed bubble screens and 1-on-1's on the bad/injured players all game. They wouldn't win any other way, but that's what happened and they won.

Bombers was efficient, maybe too efficient because the costly mistakes left them with zilch at the end for a comeback, but you would kind of expect this vaunted defence to impose their will over an Als offence that looked otherwise anemic all season long... and didn't. You can certainly be mad about that (and trust me, I am!) but to say Als did "f***ing nothing" just isn't true.

Yeah, this is two straight years where the opposing team did not much in the Grey Cup but that Bombers’ dominance during the regular season and the West Final just wasn’t there. Again. I don’t know what the answer is

I disagree. The Bombers play at 70% of their talent level they win this game by 20. They failed to show up completely. Lazy in coverage, struggling to scrape to the hole, lazy in routes, struggles to block. This is not the team we watched all year, beyond the 30-6 game vs BC early on. This is a team that bought into their own hype and failed to show up in the big moment.

Als did nothing impressive. They hung around as the better team diddled and daddled it away. This loss is 100% on the Bombers and 0% on the Als. Maybe the one Mack catch was a great AL play. Outside of that, it was just a cluster f*** of Bomber errors. I'm f***ing pissed way more than last year. This is a BS performance. It's pathetic. And they should f***ing know it.

Should be interesting to see how the local press handles the Bombers in the aftermath of this very disappointing performance. They tend to be strong cheerleaders for the Bombers, but it's hard to look at that performance (and last year's Grey Cup) and not have some hard questions for coaches and management (and some players).

If we had the answer to this we'd be running the world. It's just human nature sometimes that it's hard to be the favourite. But doesn't make this any more acceptable. This team loves to break hearts and they did again. This was a most pathetic showing, even worse than last year. I'm beyond pissed and it's going to take me a long f***ing while to get over this. This f***ing team has lived long enough to become the villain. f***ers.

It’s so weird to me that you have a defensive powerhouse in Jeffcoat, and Willy.

Yet you give those guys basically no help by sending them into a mud pit.

The offense is going to get blame this game, but there is no way in hell that you should allow those marches by Montreal. Fajardo looked like an MVP tonight, and their game calling was a big contributor.

Bombers played that game like they just had to walk on the field to win, it seemed like to me. All talk, no action. They largely stunk for most of the game (again). It wasn't until Montreal took the lead in the fourth where the offence finally said "oh shit" and played with some urgency. Just like I said last year that I didn't know if you could justify bringing Legghio back, this year I don't know if you can justify running it all the way back again. This is a good team but it's a tricky balance because this is two years in a row where our stars (other than Brady, who also played well last season) just couldn't be bothered to show up in the final. Can you roll with that again? I don't know the answer.

And because I don't know the answer, I'm interested to see how this offseason plays out. Last year I was way more upset (largely probably because I was there last year) but this year I'm feeling much more of a "them's the breaks" type of philosophy, as bad as we played.

I'm excited for next year already but I'll need some time away from this team for now haha
