This team should consider moving on from McIsaac. He’s got a bit of Madison Bowey in him. His ice time would be better off going to Sebrango and Johansson.
I was never a fan of McIsaac. His inability to defend when the other team had possession in his defensive zone was apparent immediately upon watching him once he was in Detroit’s system. He’d consistently lose his man and take himself out of position. I didn’t see any improvement there either. And then he suffered like 2 years worth of injuries. And then got plopped into the A. It was an unfortunate and unavoidable development path for a kid who desperately needed those games that were lost to injury.

The brain was something that I was always worried about but the athletic tools were there to be something if he didn’t smarten up. That’s kind of faded away after the injuries. Now he just looks like a mid pair AHL guy.

He was injured most of the time for 3 years after being drafted and was never able to acclimate to new situation because he wasn't in them long enough to do so and of course all of the time missed stunted his development at a crucial time
I caught a playoff game against Veleno when he was still in the Q, he was matched up against Veleno and won the matchup helping his team win the game

Yeah, he has tools, and he's had good games. There was a reason he was drafted where he was. He had a physical edge to his game and was a good skater, pretty good in transition both ways. But he was never a great defender, and never showed much offensive upside. I used to ask, what's this kid's calling card? I'd be told it was his physicality. But that's not good enough to be a regular NHLer. You still have to have some amount of quality offense or defense to your game.

The injuries affected him greatly, no doubt. Exactly how much, we'll never know. But he's always had some holes in his game, like any player not drafted near the very top of the draft. And I do think the injuries pretty much tanked any chance he had to develop in certain areas.

U of Denver won 7-0 + 7-0 against Miami this past weekend.

Buium 0+3
Mazur 1+0. His numbers seemed to have slowed down recently. A bit disappointing he couldn't get a boost in these 2 blowouts.

Highlights of the first game. Decent goal by Mazur and decent assist by Buium. But, I'm more amazed by the physics going on in the hit from 0:25-0:50

That hit looks hilarious. Caponi is smaller than the guy he hit.

A question for those of you that follow U. of Denver more closely. Is Buium physical?
He is a big guy but out of all the reports I have read (and highlights I have seen), no one mentions anything about his physicality. I read a pre-draft article about him from Elite in which Buium says that one of his best attributes is that he is much stronger than most of the other guys but that's as close as it gets about his physicality that I have come across.

More physical than last year, but it isn't his calling card or something he excels at.

Carter mazur is very goood with the puck and finding space without the puck. It seems that he is somewhat limited by his teammates, he is open or he has a good pass and no one can get it to him or his teammates whiff.
He plays on one of if not the best roster in college hockey, as well as probably the most well coached team in college hockey, he is a very good player, but not limited by his teammates at all.

DU is no doubt one of the best teams in college hockey. Obviously their roster is great and he plays with great players. This is not intended to be a slight at them, just it seems like he was thinking the game at a higher pace than his line mates.

I was at the game last night and routinely it seemed like his teammates were a step behind what he was trying to do.

That sounds made up. If he's processing the game at a higher pace he should be able to anticipate where his teammates will be. There are a number of highly regarded prospects on the team and he's definitely not the best player on that team. So to try to handwave that he's somehow above them is just making excuses.

Lombardi has some good wheels. We might have solid 3 rd line Buchelnikov - Lombardi - Mazur . Now , let's draft first line center
