Once upon a time Pat Falloon was more highly regarded than Scott Niedermayer.

Nobody is going to give a shit about their draft position or how they were rated pre draft.
After their NHL careers? Sure.
Before their NHL careers? I don't think the concept of scouting prospects is going to go by the wayside because of Pat f'n Falloon.

The hype is completely unrelated to Seider. I wouldn't be at all shocked if at the end of their careers Edvinsson is viewed as the better of the two. Pre-draft and as teenagers Ed was seen as a stronger prospect.
I don’t think it was unrelated. Seider won calder and there was a lot of ”Edvinsson’s SHL season was comparable” type comments setting expectations too high.

Pasquale Zito 2 assists today in a blowout win.

6 points in 6 games since being traded to North Bay.
25 points in 29 games on the season.

I think he is going to need to break out and show more down the stretch and into the playoffs to earn a contract.

These prospects are to be signed in the summer 2023 if Detroit wants to keep their rights :

Jack Adams
Gustav Berglund
Albin Grewe
Robert Mastrosimone
Ethan Phillips
Oscar Plandowski
Pasquale Zito

Only the two in bold are going to have a chance to be signed I think. It's a shame for Grewe, I thought he was going to be a good one.

I think your guess is correct in terms of guys with a chance. Curious to note....

Mastrosimone, Grewe, Phillips, and Berglund are all from Yzerman's first draft with the Wings. Effectively, I don't think his fingerprints are really on these guys. Maybe Mastrosimone, and he's showed well this season, so there's a chance if he's still interested in Detroit.

Adams is from way back in 2017, has been in undergrad for 6(!) years, and is like 30 years old.

Plandowski and Zito are from Yzerman's 3rd draft. Plandowski has regressed each of the last 3 years, but Zito remains a borderline interesting prospect.

I remember Berglund getting 8 SHL games in his +1 year and thinking we might have something.

Fast forward to his +3 year and he is playing 100% in HockeyEttan.

Guess that's why they say development isn't always linear.

Unless they're traded, Vrana and Zadina are both under contract next year.

-Perron, Kubalik, Fabbri (and Vrana) are all under contract next year.
-Sundqvist is not under contract.(UFA)

So I don’t see much reason in your lineup… but of course agree that Soderblom and Edvinsson should find their way into the lineup as regulars next season one way or another.

I have no idea what Yzerman going to do , but Sundqvist should stay , especially if Bert got traded. I expect lots of trades happen

Told you he looked good in those games! And those clips didnt show all of the little defensive plays that he made either.

My complaint isn’t with Edvinsson the individual. A lot of things he was weak at last season have started to become strengths; he’s worked on his shot and can get it through traffic now. His long passing is scary accurate now. He used to suck at holding the offensive blue line and has gotten much stronger at preventing dump attempts.

My problem is with Ben Simon the coach not getting the team playing a cohesive game 9 out of every 10 games. I forget where I heard the saying, but to paraphrase; the skill of the coach can be seen in how hard the guys across the lineup work, and how well their system is implemented by the most average players in the lineup. A lot of Griffins games look like beer league level breakouts, suicide passes to the neutral zone and poor attention to detail on the backcheck. Either his game plan is trash on execution or he isn’t getting players to execute. It’s hard to tell but both are reasons he should be fired.

I like that Simon hasn’t lost his aggressiveness when stepping into passing lanes to break up a pass. Seider did this a lot last year and hasn’t done this as much under Fester. I’m hoping that is a part of his game he recovers. Both he and Ed could be great in transition and turning defense to offense.

Stuff like this is what has me worried Fester is coaching the skill down on guys like Seider for safer plays. Seider is a risk taker let him play to his strengths.

I don't think the problem with Seider this season is that he's not taking enough risks.

Seider problem is he wants to do everything by himself. I've been saying many times,he needs mentor. Ether bring elite defenseman or bring Nik, you decide which, to help him.

This team should consider moving on from McIsaac. He’s got a bit of Madison Bowey in him. His ice time would be better off going to Sebrango and Johansson.

Some physicality from Ed on display. He could stand to be a bit more consistently physical like this.
