Without trading Zadina or Fabbri, where do you realistically expect Berggren to slot in the lineup? Who on the right side does he displace?

How about on the left wing?

He's an offensively skilled, fast skating playmaking winger. His play is suited to being on a line with skilled players, which Detroit is very light on. So who is he likely to play with? Some combination of Erne, Sundqvist, Smith, Stephens, Rasmussen and Veleno who is the most talented of the bunch.
We'll be seeing some moves, this summer, for sure. Yzerman was pretty high on making sure Berggren's progress went unfettered.

Not sure what your lineup looks like. Maybe I'm missing someone, but:

Bertuzzi-Larkin-Raymond
Fabbri-Suter-Vrana
Zadina-Veleno-Berggren

That's one option. I could definitely see Berggren getting an opportunity higher in the lineup as well.

Good for Cotton.
His game stagnated this year.
46 games 11-21-32.
He's basically fallen off the radar since not getting a contract in the offseason.
He had a good start to this season but went cold around Christmas. First half 27 games 26 points, second half 27 games 12 points.

I could swear Yzerman said at some point that when Berggren is ready to make the move to the big team he will be slotted in a top 6 role. Said the same thing with Raymond and he cemented himself on that first line quite nicely. Either way I think the forward group looks different next year and the defense core much much different.

Went to Windsor/Sarnia game last night. Zito had a goal in the game. He was definitely one of the better players on Windsor.

Stays active and has some good wheels. Not sure if I see an NHL future but I think he has AHL possibilities.

I've caught a few spits game this year, while the skill hasn't always blown me away per se, the hustle and hart pretty much always has. I really have liked him for a 6th rounder.

Eemil Viro's season comes to an end... His team loses in the Finals 4-1... He missed the last couple games due to injury

ELC Next?
I would think he will at least sign and either get loaned back to Liga, which should be stronger next season with the return of Jokerit, or go to GR to see what we have.

Or sent to our Frolunda farm team. I hear they will have an opening on LD this season. :sarcasm:

He already signed last summer. There's talk about him going to GR, although I think he could benefit from another year with TPS. That would follow Johansson's timeline assuming he comes this summer.

Jokerit will sit out next year and hope to return to the Liiga in 23-24.

Interesting. Would have thought they would have jumped right in for 22-23
