For people that are way too worried IMHO of Gus being on our team. I'm pretty sure ASP will boot him off the roster and move him towards the press box next year. He looks very, very promising to me for what he is accomplishing in the SHL this year.

Are you pretty sure of this? Because we have mountains of evidence to the contrary based on the organization's handling of other young players.

Very strong so far in his 2nd year in the SHL. Provided no injury set backs in his development he might play 10-15 in GR but I think he will stick when he gets his call up. Granted I'm making a guess. But I feel confident with how he is progressing so far. He is averaging 20+ minutes which is very rare for a kid in that league unless you are a real deal type of Prospect.

He is looking improved defensively, but that area is still what could easily keep him from being a day 1 NHLer next season.

Do we really want Lalonde coaching ASP to chip it off the boards to no one and flip it up, but not out of the zone when we are scrambling?
Lalonde will look at ASP tapes and think oh that is how defansman should play hockey

This day happened this weekend (10/26/24), got an assist against Alaska Anchorage. Mark your calendars.
I think the water boy also picked up a helper against the hapless Seawolves. Save the puck for your first and last point of the season, Brady.

Saw ASP, MBN and NDN tonight live in Gothenburg. Frölunda vs Skellefteå.

Missed half of the first period due to dinner running over time and saw what remained of it in the bar.
Both teams are top in the league and was a pretty tight checking game after the first period.
Fun game and very playoff like feeling after the first period going into the second being tied 2-2.

Just some thoughts from the second period and on:

MBN was deployed in the bumper spot on PP2 and had great pass to an open player for a on timer for a right handed shot position, but the receiver was left handed and could not one time it. Manhandled an opponent on the boards in the third, looks very strong for his age, and a break through chance in the last minute. Not very noticeable 5on5 and played 14 min.

ASP wasn't very noticeable either but played a lot of minutes in the third to get back to tie it. Had one sneaky wrist shot from the point with traffic in front but the goalie saved it, or it got blocked. You could see the respect that the Frölunda players were giving him though and played him well defensively.

NDN only played 11 min but scored a goal. Great instinct to stop at the goal line and not continue behind the net. Looks bigger than when I have seen him as a prospect in videos (may have grown a bit).

Probably missed some things due to cheering on the home town team to win!

Need to see more from MBN. 1 point in 7 games ain’t gonna cut it.
I think at some point you’re going to have to accept that development is not linear and players are going to have waves of being up and down in their development. especially when dealing with 18 and 19 year olds who are still growing and adjusting to being adults outside of just sports. This isn’t a video game. Would I like to see a little more? Yeah, but we saw this last year with kasper and he turned it up the second half and look at him now. You need to give young adults like this time, you can’t complain about it 24/7.

No, at some point he'll need to actually watch a game and stop boxscore watching for his troll takes. MBN looks better with each game. I'd argue he was one of their best players the last three games. He's going to break through soon enough.
