Tuomisto with the OT winner.

His second goal for the night, to to with his 6 SOG.

This guy needs be developing in GR. The logjam is too big. Steve needs to really monitor the situation down there with all the D in the system.

Tuomisto is back in GR. He scored his first AHL goal in his second game back.

19years old Veleno had 23 points in 54 games with team worse -25
Kasper has 8 points in 26 games .
Don't forget he lost some time before season started and he's new to NA.

Kasper needs to be way better than Veleno or he is a bust at #9.

I am disappointed with our prospects so far as well, but with Kasper I do think we need to be patient because he did come into the year with a not insignificant surgery to an important body part and is in a new country and style of play. The surgery alone could have hindered him by a lot.

To me the more frustrating part is Edvinsson is the only one busting the door down to be in the NHL, as no one else of Steve's non NHL prospects are really forcing Detroit's hand to be in the NHL. Would be nice if we had more than ASP and maybe Buch trending well also. Hanas started well last year but looks like he has fallen off quite a bit, and the other defenders don't like any more than maybe ok future NHL players, which isn't helping a rebuild.

Berggren is busting down the door as well I'd say, but yeah other than him, Edvinsson and ASP, it couldn't get that much worse for Detroit prospects. Hopefully the 2nd half provides some improvements from pretty much everyone.

To me, Berggren is not a high end prospect. He isn't good enough to be top 6, and he doesn't play a bottom 6 role, which is why he will struggle to find a spot in the NHL.

Why isn't he good enough to be top 6?

And why can't scoring be a bottom 6 role?

He is very perimeter in his play and if you take a really good start last season, he had like 11 pts in his last 30+ games, while being quite bad defensively. He is smallish as well, and I don't see good enough skating/skills that he will be really good. I think he will eventually be a 20-45 pt player that bounces around teams bottom sixes but isn't consistent at all. Kind of like an AA type. I definitely don't see a core piece with him.

Granted I want to be wrong, I 100% do, as who doesn't want him to be good, I just don't see anything great from him. I mentioned in another post that to me he is poor man's Tatar/Hudler/Nyquist type as all 3 of those guys could wow you at times, and I don't recall being wowed by Berggren with much.

As far as scoring in a bottom 6 role, you would need to bring something else, as chances to score are lower on the bottom lines, like for example Sprong isn't great in his own end, but he actually fore checks pretty aggressively while away from the puck Berggren for lack of a better word is just kind of skating around.

The last time this board did a vote on prospects with Berggren, he was #3. I understand not thinking Berggren will be a difference maker(I disagree), but to me that says a lot about the other prospects. Kasper has shown nothing above 3C level offense, Danielson as well. Mazur? Struggling in the AHL. Lombardi? See Mazur. Buch? Long shot to ever amount to anything. On defense at least we have Edvinsson and ASP. The Forward and Goaltending drafting/development has been awful under Draper despite numerous high round picks.

I've been wowed by Berggren every bit as much as I ever was by those three. I think he's comfortably capable of 50-60+ point seasons. Much like Hudler you just need to use him with talent to get the best out of him, and his linemates.

Your expectations are too high. Also, Augustine looks great.
