Why is every opinion stupid? Were you picked on as a kid? If we can get a 3rd round pick for a guy we have no intention of signing, we take it. Remember the year we chose Pavel Buchnevich and Anthony Duclair in the 3rd round? As for our playoff prospects, you are begging. Our elite talent is not elite at 5 X 5 and the whistle is less of an issue come playoff time.

Not every opinion is stupid just this one about getting rid of Strome and weakening an already weak position for a team that is 3 points out of first and going to the playoffs. They will trade for some forward depth at the TDL. Strome is going nowhere this year. They would rather let him walk in the off season if they can't reach an agreement on a contract.

One of his better games as a Ranger. 4th line was solid again.
One of his better games is still 3rd line AHL level. Detroit gave all lines plenty of pucks to play with as they are really shaky with the puck. So, the 4th line had some zone time for a change. In that sense they played fine as a unit, but Mckegg was still bad. I thought Reaves had a strong game and I'm not a big fan of his play.

That's poor asset management because they should have no intention of reaching an agreement with him. Do you see him as a 2C or even a 3C on a cup winning team? If the answer is no, then it is time to move on and get whatever we can.

Nobody is saying we lost because of any one player, but there is no reason for Mckegg to play. He stinks, he is not young while Barron is, and we need a 3C.

Yeah we do need a 3c, but I'm not so sure barron is that yet. He should be playing on the 4th line first. Maybe 3c if we get a better winger so goodrow and that winger can help him.

Maybe somebody should sit behind the bench next game with a sign?

I don't know how any of us can judge Barron other than thru GG's eyes? He can't crack the lineup over Mckegg? Like one game? how many consecutive games has Mckegg played now? We can see he is not an NHL player. How can Barron not bring more than him?
Just a bummer we literally have no contribution from the minors on either our 3rd or 4th line right now.
That’s the dumb part.
Just viewing Barrons small body of work he’s been given so far, it’s easy to see he has a greater impact then McKegg on the overall game.
If they thought he wasn’t ready, or needs more time developing, he’d be in Hartford by now.
It’s almost if they have him on stand by until McKegg becomes more useless then he is now.
I get that GG may be more comfortable with McKegg being a vet, or values his speed on the line, over Barron. But at some point, you have to avoid the inevitable and put him in.
He did with Schneider, he did with Jones( even though that took too long)..
I just don’t get what he’s waiting for here.
It’s not a fireable offense, or makes me say I hate Gallant, but it’s plain as day.
If I’m Barron, I’m getting pretty pissed off at this point tbh...

We'll never know about Barron until coach inserts him, gives him responsibility and sees what happens. He has done all he can at the AHL level; it is time. Otherwise, he should be moved at the deadline. And the idea that he is sitting behind some pretty poor players is what makes it really frustrating.

Look, I dislike Greg McKegg being on the Rangers at this point as much as everyone else does, he stinks and is barely and NHL level player. However, that line has been pretty decent, he's been pretty good for Greg McKegg standards and I can totally see why a coach prefers the veteran career 4th liner that he believes he can trust over the unproven kid in Barron who hasn't shown enough to really have him be a slam dunk play over McKegg. I obviously want Barron in over McKegg but it's not this outlandish insane decision by Galant to use McKegg on the 4th line over him. Virtually every coach in this league loves their bottom of the lineup veterans and most will always trust veterans more even if it's undeserved to the fans POV.

And overall it's indicative of how bad of a coach Gallant is. Horrible personal deployment, horrible strategy. It bears repeating - THE PANTHERS LEFT THIS GUY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD!

I don't know bud. This strikes me as over the top. You probably thought Torts was bad, AV was an idiot, DQ was stupid and now GG is horrible?

I see there is no pleasing you Mr. Powers.

Poor asset management is trading your 2nd line center prior to the playoffs when you are 3 points out of first. A player that has worked well with your elite LW and has scored .75 ppg in the 3 years he has been with the team. No GM in that position would do that.

All true. But to what end? The organization should want to know now what they have in Barron. They can't yet because his play last year was very solid and this year he hasn't played. So, for so many reasons he should be playing over McKegg and Rooney as well frankly who i think is thought of as a responsible player in the D zone but really isn't.

I'm sure he will get his chance. I think the team likes him.

Lafreniere needs to be mentally abused in order to succeed according to the Rangers. Their hockey development program is ripped from straight from the CIA's torture handbook. Probably sending a clown at 3AM to Kakko's apartment and rattling his doorknob to terrorize him. Drury playing mind games with Andersson and Vitali until they have mental breakdowns. This organization is so gaudy and arrogant they can't stop torturing these kids to break their spirits.

absolutely correct here.
And if there was 1 real reporter that covers the rangers instead of a squad of ass kissers after wins, they’d actually ask him about it....

So, obviously you value Strome alot more than i do. I see him and his production as mostly a function of being on PP1 and playing with Panarin. He is not devoid of ability, but his defensive game is so bad that he is not a long-term piece IMO. And if that team 3 points out of first is playing the way we've played they would. Again, which of Carolina, Pitt, Tampa and Florida do we have any chance of beating? Meaning better than 25%. This year the East is stacked. We are pretenders and dealing Strome for an asset makes us potentially better in the future.

All those coaches stunk.

Torts literally ground his players down to dust with his caveman hockey.
AV couldn't deploy lines if his life depended on it.
DQ was a college coach
Gallant was literally thrown out on the side of the road like trash by another NHL team.

What's something all these coaches have in common - they are all losers.

I totally agree with you, I was just saying basically it is what it is. This is why getting Kakko back and hopefully adding another forward will push everyone down the lineup so with a healthy lineup McKegg isn't even next man up anymore and Gallant doesn't even need to make the decision.

It's not an excuse but we got so incredibly boned in the PP/PK department tonight

I thought Greg McKegg was fine tonight
He was horrible tonight. And he knew it. You could see it in his face on every giveaway. And I'm not a Kegger hater.

Very Surprised Gallant did not use Laffy in OT. I thought he was the best player on that first line tonight. He was all over the puck throughout the game. Was very much in tune where to be on the ice, intercepting plays, making takeaways, setting up plays, etc...
If Panarin wasn't the puck hog he was tonight, I'd say Laffy was our best player. Definitely one of his better games.

Surprised he didn't get a shift in OT. Gallant used Chytil and Rooney instead.

Yeah but KK is weeks away I believe and Barron rots in the press box.

I thought Lafreniere was flying tonight. He looked as fast and dynamic as he has in a long time. I think he's realizing he needs to make things happen if he wants to stay in the top 6. His confidence getting to where it needs to be so he's no longer coasting or hesitating all the time is what he needs to unlock his potential. It's right there and tonight was definitely a big step in the right direction. If he can keep this play up and start getting some point I feel like he's going to explode.

If the Rangers make trades and McKegg isn't in the lineup on the 4th line my head will spin off of my neck. I would almost bet money that he'll still be in the lineup.

I hope youre right but i find it odd that the team has him sitting in the press box, while we are dying for effective bottom 6 play, instead of playing big minutes in HFD

Anyone watching tonight's game will know never to question Laffy's skating again. He is confident and skating at a pretty high level. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but at ES Kreider is holding that line back. He scores (sometimes at ES) and does little else to help the cause.

Tonight was the perfect storm for all the negative people on this site. Had great chances to win it in regulation, overtime, and in the shootout, but came up short. Penguins lost, so we can never pick up a game when they lose. Capitals won, so they'll pass us in the standings in a week. Blue Jackets scored 7 goals in a win, so they will probably knock us out of the playoffs all together. Igor is 12-1-1 over our last 18 games. Tear it down!
