Windsor Spitfires 2024-25 Season Thread, Part III

Spits could really use a quality D even if not top tier but can play OHL minutes. Other than that standing pat is ok to.
Prices are too expensive and I'm glad this year Bowler is resisting. Next year might be the year to spend. George might be on the market by then and that would be a big add.

Froggett might be the one moved as Newlove looks a little stronger so far.
Hopefully buy early as prices will be high again.
Could get a steal..

Sure but how disappointing is it when u get your ass handed to you because management neglected the glaring area that needed attention?!?! Imho its a deadline fail if at least 1 D man isn’t acquired now.

It's a balancing game. They don't want to go out and get a bottom-pairing d-man as that does no good, even for a good price. But, if the better ones are going to cost too much, do you risk the move or stand pat?

Have ignored it for many years.
Guess a few more won't hurt..

Froggett would draw less return. A bit erratic results to date. Newlove being ranked would return a better player. Bowler may hold on to all of them and see what Joey plans next season.

Is there a goaltender out there that's worth spending on to become a 1A/1B with Costanzo for the season? It would have to be a proven veteran, otherwise it's easier to go with Newlove or Froggett.

Kennedy from NB it seems. Don’t know what goes the other way. 6’5” 207lbs, not overly physical but an upgrade with size with decent puck moving ability.

Well here we go again, another upgrade during the trade deadline. OHL probably not their main focus.

Anyway we are by the OA deadline and all 3 OA's are staying with the Spits, I'm good with that. Now that D we need?!?!
Might not of been much interest with the oa's.
Need good defense.

I would guess Young is potentially heading down, not that we need a forward but imagine Peneli centering our second line ..

I’ve heard Manzo for Kennedy, I’m okay with that deal. I’d bet on him being an OA. He’s a top line D guy with Ride over in NB. He’d probably slide into 3/4 here immediately with a chance to play top minutes next year. I just worry big time picks are also going out.

I thought about McCue as well. I don’t think he moves the needle himself but if he’s not going to flint I imagine he’s being moved for not much…

Unless Flint gives him the finger, and tells him to sit out instead… in which these days he’d probably be the first to hop to NCAA?

If any of this McCue refusing to report to Flint is true, someone will get a Pennie’s in the Dollar deal.

Could be. I'm sure the players in the room would welcome him back in OS but management might not then he picks where hell go.......( and I'm all gor that. I like players have more co trol now)
Why this stuff gets out before approvals on all ends causes to much crap for the players firstly, management and fans. Great to speculate what may happen but this rush n need to post n be first leads to too much SHI......esp for the kids who will get backlash from one team or another, potentially their own management and the hockey community (we all know how old school, petty and archaic they can be)
When the speculation becomes posted as fact then doesn't happen.......it's a no win for all.

Edit misread......if he won't report and trade is finalized he has options for sure.
Can you be traded 2 days in a row? There is a LK connection but he fit well in Windsor also. His call I guess and he has the no report/trade, ncaa, report to Flint or chill for the spring options all avail.

Kennedy not top rated. Giving up Manzo should be close to even.

Welcome back, y'all!

Kennedy for Manzo would be okay. I want to see if there would be picks involved. I also wonder how much more Ride would have cost. I'll wait until we see something official.
