No reason to move Costanzo. No fire sale here. Acquisition is the plan everyone bitches about the Wright trade but don't forget they were 1st place in the West and were swept round 1 due to
Onuska suspect horrible GAA that year, rookie Costanzo and really poor defense structure under Savard. Outscored 20-7 that series that wasn't Wrights fault. Spend on D and then spend on D again.
I don’t think the Wright trade was bad, the Harrison trade was. So much so, I try to forget about it.

I can see why Spellacy wants a change. Bummer for us but I get it. Hopefully a good chunk would come back for him.

Yeah, Joeys is say is a lock as an OA. I don’t trust any other goaltending options to staff next year at this point.

Is Outwater tradeable due to injury? Or is he kind of locked in here, because he’s hurt?

London
Looking at London, our offense matches or is better than London overall Joey can match their goaltending when he is on, which he has been most of the year. Bring in 2 quality D with an upgrade Abraham with another OA/D and we coukd be right there with them. Remember the Kadri/Tavares Knights vs the equally balanced Spits? 5 games all OT 4-1 Spits, but could have easily been the other way. I expect Bowler will be busier than most think. Going for it next year maybe too costly to replace 2-3 OAS and 2 imports if Protas leaves (likely) and we don't have an import pick not until positon 50'60 in the first round.
Sorry London fan, you haven’t seen the best
of London’s offense. They always start rolling in the second half. First half is always about figuring out systems, working out the kicks and then Dale will ask them to raise their level.

That maybe I'm hoping they sacrifice defense for the cost of offense. Love your D core but I still believe we have more guns in the O department by far. We improve 2-3 D and we may give you fits. Love a 401 series this year!!

Fair enough, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

One guy that I love is Ilya Protas. That guy’s is as good or better than Kasper Halttunen was last year.

Protas is currently 1.6 points per game. More than a 1/2 point per game better than Haltunen was last year and double his production this year to date. Not knocking Haltunen, I'll trade you Eichler straight up lol.

Just a thought but if Spellacy really does want out it would be a good opportunity to get a quality 07 or at the very least a decent amount of picks that can be put towards trades next year. imo those are both better options than flipping him for someone to help us this year

There is a difference between talk of any player that you may want traded for various reasons and attaching a name to a player whom the fan surmises may want a change of scenery. Once tagged as wanting out they are immediately chastised by the fan base regardless of the outcome. Rumors are just that rumors. Another consideration is Bowler may want player A, then B and ends up with player C because A & B wouldn't waivers a no trade clause to the Spits or price was too outrageous. Not all trades are gems and too easy to remember the questionable being an armchair quarterbacks using hindsight.

If someone wants out, regardless of who it is, you're going to have to replace them in the lineup. If it's someone of significance, that means replacing that production and value on the team. It probably won't be for an 07, unless that 07 is top of their class. You're more likely looking at an elite 05 or even 06 if the price and situation are right. All we can do now is wait and see.

Notice how they people who brought it up didn’t deny it’s Spellacy?

That’s who it is. Sorry if it upsets you there is a name to your rumour. Either say nothing at all, or give the name. Enough of this tip-toe around the situation.

Game day

Spits come into this vs Guelph on a 5 game winning streak, some masterpiece games,a couple of barn painting ones too but hey a win is a win.
Spits best record in the league last 10 games 8-1-0-1,5 -0-0-1 at home.
Some notes Spits have scored 49 goals last 10 and have allowed 28 in the same time period.
Should be noted in these 10 Costanzo played 9 and allowed 21 and is 7-1-0-1 in this stretch, Windbiel 1 game allowed 6 but 1-0,Froggett 1 game 0-0 but got hu,rt saved 11 of 11 at London.
Protas leads the team in scoring in the last 10 with 21 points 6G,15A,while Greentree is 2nd with 11G,9A,20 points
Nesbitt has 12 points,4G8A,Davis has 11 points7G,4A,Morneau has also 11 points except 4G,7A,should mention Abraham has 8 points 2G,6A but has 7 points in his last 4,while Spellacy has 7 points in 9 games including 5G.
Some interesting plus/ minus last 10 games ie Protas +18,Greentree +16,Morneau +11,Eichler+10 and Walton and Christoforo +9.
Don't take Guelph lightly, foot to the gas pedal all game after 2 barn paintings last 2 time for a masterpiece game wise.
Forgot to mention need to improve the PP have fallen to 10th OA and in the last 10 games are only on the PP,but thankfully they are 20/24 on the PK in the last 10.

Now that we have played 36 games this season so far 2 past the midway part of the schedule interesting comparison 1st 18,and last 18.
1st 18 Spits were 13-4-1-0,27 points
7-2 at home,6-2-1 on the road
GF-80
GA-48
The last 18 games
13-3-1-1
8-0-0-1 at home
5-3-1 away
GF-78
GA-55
Pretty damn consistentl I would say
Other then some PP troubles lately but better PK overall all is good
Go Spits Go

winning 13 of the first 18, and 13 of the last 18 is awesome. Glad to see the consistency. Felt like we did great early, went thru a rough patch and have done great lately. Not sure how those games split, but I feel the majority of the losses were within the same time frame. Hopefully we can avoid another one of those.

I’d like to see Newlove tonight, and plan for two games of Joey on the road this weekend.

Never take a team lightly, but Guelph is kind of in shambles, trading away anything of value. If anyone on the spits has the deadline in their minds, I imagine it’s 3x worse if you’re in Guelph right now. Just moved their (struggling?) starting goalie last night.

Their tandem is an 08’ that’s 0-5-0-1 and a newly added 07’ from the GOJHL. He’s from tecumseh, so wouldn’t be surprised to see Jovanovski get the start… he has 2 games he’s started in the OHL, playing in 3, with his 1 Win coming in a shootout

Cam Allen, VAN Signed Import Alrikksson, Brayden Gillespie all moved since December.

Alrikksson and Allen were Top 5 point guys on Guelph, Gillespie was their starter. They’re also still down Luchanko.

And if they’re blowing everything up, who knows if Paquette or Namestikov end up on that suspicious “Sick” scratched list

Like I said the last time they played - "it'll either be a blowout or 50-saves from Guelph."

Myself I would start Costanzo tonight bounce back game for the team including him despite winning over Flint, and with 4 road games 2 this weekend ,2 next right after trade deadline day let Newlove play in one of those road games perhaps Saturday at Erie, just want Windsor to win this home game tonight, Newlove will get his chance Walters already mentioned that earlier. I didn't think Costanzo was bad the other night just he could have had a couple of them,he has super at home most of the season.

Nothing surprising out of the scratches. Martin was listed as UBI the other day, assuming the same.

Hopefully Mathurin slots back in soon.

Surprised Windbiel is backing up? If we can only play 4, 08s in a single game… what happens if we need to go to the backup?
