I have a hard time believing that Bowler wouldn't bring back Abraham or Smith. This is the same team that carded Jodoin and he didn't bring much. The Spits don't have enough quality forwards to the point where they can just move Smith and Abraham.

Look at Fischer for Sarnia Flyer picked in 11th round. Signed due to good coach or just location to MI home. Flyers can sure impact a team if they report. We need bigger D. The NHL is headed way again and London is a tower of power on the blue line with their size. We have 1 too many small D now.

He wasn't your typical flyer pick. His dad played in the NHL for some time. Sarnia owned by 2 NHL guys certainly didn't hurt things.

Will appreciate information if anyone has it. NIA will likely finish in one of the bottom two spots. I’m not 100% on this but believe they lost their 1st round pick this summer due to sanctions. If that is accurate, how will the lottery work? Will a playoff team lowest in the standing be rewarded with a lottery pick? If WSR finishes behind NIA, will they still get the highest odds for 1st overall?

Sorry ahead of NIA

At this point in the schedule Niagara sits at the bottom of the TANK with 31 points. The Spitfires are 2nd last with 32 points. They both have played the same number of games. Barrie is 3rd last with 40 points. All other teams have at least 41 points.

I am hearing from my sources that Zito's exit was non dramatic. I have been told that Zito informed management that he has some personal issues to deal with back home. That he has kinda lost the love of the game. Wants to go to school and focus on that. My information may not be as dramatically entertaining compared to others information, so choose what you want to believe 🤣..... Either way he is done with playing right now.

Sounds similar to what I heard.

Draft lottery weighted 40%,30%20%10%. So last place has guaranteed top 2 selection and 2nd last guaranteed top 3 pick if lottery winner is anyone other than the last place team.
Don't understamd the last part. Are you saying last place always picks 1st or 2nd? Is the lottery only for the first place spot, then 2 through 4 are just the order they finished?

The way this season has taken a drastic downward spiral, I have lost faith in the management of the Spitfires. The Spits have very few high quality OHL players, and unless hitting homeruns on both their first 3 picks and their first Import draft pick, then next year will be mediocre again.
The decisions on coaching have really had a major impact on the last place standing.
This leads me to believe a change in leadership is certainly required.

Not even sure the last time a GM was fired in the OHL? With the long standing relationship Bowler has had with the ownership group I see dismal as highly unlikely. Now coaching changes have to be in order. Next year has to be a fresh start with a quality coaching staff. This is a must. Be safe.

Ted Dent was demoted from GM and they promoted McParland in June of 2023.

I reread my post and it is confusing as hell lol. 2022 was equal 25% odds for each of the 4 non playoff teams since it not necessarily the worst 4 in points overall but usually is. They weighted it 40,30,20,10 last year and assume that is how it will be this year as well. Niagara hasn't won the draft lottery yet despite finishing last place both years. It is a random number generator draw. So think of 10 bingo balls in the drum with 4 balls, 3 balls,2 &1 ball for the respected teams. The 20th place team has a 60% chance of NOT winning 1st overall but has 70% chance of picking 1st or second and 90% of picking top 3. Still 10% chance of still picking 4th.

Im all in on this priority draft & the future of this team. I am Not expecting the Spitfires to come out of the basemant of the standings at this point and expect an eventual top 3 selection for the draft. Tall mountain to climb and would take a damn near miracle to get 8th. Looking for the small Victories. Like Greentree's Stellar season and watching other younger players make strides and improve towards a better next season. At this point play for Pride, this is the best Junior league in the world. Just want to see hard fought competitive hockey from our Spitfires to finish this season, the future is bright!!

Go Spitfires!!
