Niagara is going to beat NB right now, putting them three points up on Windsor.

Energy to start?
Niagara did beat NB 6-4 so SPITS need to win to keep pace. As for us starting our 3rd line…perhaps we want to put out some checking-energy to keep Sting off the scoreboard early.

Usually Windsor only hits for 1 period. Get tired and then fall into bad habits..

Once in awhile...

I mean, eh, credit given where due, right?

Solid period from Windsor. They came out throwing a couple of hits, outshot the Sting 14-4, and have the 1-0 lead. Without Srzycia for the Sting, it could have been 3-0. Now, they have to keep it going as we all know what the second period tends to bring.

Spits with a big edge in play but only 1 goal to show for it. Sarnia did play yesterday, perhaps they might use that as an excuse. If Windsor can keep up the pressure in period 2 we might win this one.

Works both ways also.

Windsor never uses that excuse right....

That's a really odd goal...

Cristoforo with pass that gets picked off in his own zone. The Sting miss, run into the official trying to regroup, fall down... and the play comes back. Cristoforo then gets a pass blocker side and taps it in. 2-0 Windsor. Not a great start to that play but it ends well.

Nice gift from ref.
74 obviously playing his position on that goal...

Filak and Eichler going for the puck in the corner. Eichler stops, Filak goes to avoid him, and falls awkwardly into the boards. Trainers/stretcher are out. Hopefully it's nothing serious. That didn't look good.

Ugly fall into the boards for Filac. Didn't like his struggle trying to get up at first. Hope he's OK. Eichler dragged his leg a bit tripping him. Unfortunate contact with no I'll intent.

Not a great hit by Morneau but he's not the guy to go looking for that. Felt more he was going for the hit and the kid turned at the last second. Hopefully the kid is okay, regardless.

Will be interesting to see how these penalties play out. Eichler/Struthers could be gone for a couple of games.

I didn’t think there was really anything wrong with what Morneau did. There is nothing you can do when a player turns when they know a check might be coming.

Yes player turned his back but if you can see their number don't hit him. Need those little stop signs on their jerseys I guess like little league lol.

He is leaning in for the hit before the kid even turns. This is one of the boarder line penalties. Players need to stop turning the last second before they injure themselves seriously. At the speed they are going there isn’t anything Morneau can really do. Problem is these days is clear hits from behind are just getting called boarding. They need to make hits from behind a minimum of 4 min to maybe cutdown on this stuff.

2nd period more even in play. Anyone’s game so far. Both injuries the result of incidental contract IMHO. Losing two players to injury could fire the Sting up. If it stays close the rough stuff should be over…if it’s not close it will get rough again.
