I look at Zito as a once promising pro prospect that was drafted and not signed. His world may have been crashing around.

I remember being 20 with a total lack of direction in life. It was scary. Not disimilar to the kid in Saginaw 10 years ago. I believe his name was Terry Trafford. Also, similar issue in London last year.

Don'tforget to have some compassion for the Kids.

This. A lot of times, we forget (or ignore) that these are kids. Imagine the scrutiny they get at that age. Imagine being on the ice at 17 or 18 and hearing constant complaints and ridicule? Or going online and seeing people repeatedly bash you for something? Again... they're kids. Yeah, I get it, "suck it up because they'll have to deal with it in the pros", but, man, compassion and understanding goes a long way in this world.

You're going down a slippery slope here. You can preach compassion and understanding and not being critical. You also have said not to be critical or management or coaching. Of course the organization is making money off the backs of teenagers. So what is it to show compassion but not criticize the organization? Seems extremely hypocritical to me. If games were free for the public and people weren't paying money to watch them play absolutely. When it comes to this though fans are making an investment and if they aren't happy with the returns they're not going to sit idly by. For instance if I invested 500 dollars in ____ stock because my advisor said it was a good buy and I lost almost all of it. I should probably show compassion and understanding to my advisor because he made a mistake.

I think we have the same advisor.

If I'm going down a slippery slope, good for me. At no point in my post did I say don't criticize management or coaching; if I did, please, point it out. In fact, I've been critical of both management and coaching in the past on multiple occasions. In this specific case, the post I was quoting was relating to Zito and how we don't know what was going on off the ice. That's why I said that people need to show some compassion towards the kids/players.

Yes they are young, yes most of the commentary comes from adults. That said, these players have dealt with this stuff from an early age, they have all seen the good bad and ugly, most have lived it. So some criticism isn’t unusual. Getting personal should be off limits and as adults that line should be understood. High level sports brings much adversity and learning to navigate it is half the battle.
Now management types? Go get em when they deserve it!

How exciting tonight for the kiddos. It’s STARWARS NIGHT. The Spits play Sarnia back to back this weekend. These are the last games vs Sarnia and we have none left vs NF. We had better make hay this weekend. A split will do us no good If we intend on moving up in the standings.

I think the opposite. IMHO I think JC knows this is a team that is struggling. therefore he is putting too much pressure on himself to "steal" every game. Hence his very visible frustration on all goals, even the ones nobody is stopping. if he could release that pressure and just play like he can he would be better off. Take this year in stride. Confidence and self induced pressure can be 2 very different things. Be safe .
Joey no doubt has struggled lately since the trade deadline actually, with the coaching change
at the 21 game mark he was 5.69,then the teams next 16 games prior to trade deadline he worked average down to 3.90, after the trade deadline he is back up to 5.01 goals against, has 1 win and that was a 11-7 win over Sudbury.
Needs to game back in order.
Carter Froggett in Jr B is lighting things up currently on a 7 game winning with his Jr B team and more to the point has allowed only 9 goals in those 7 contests, and 1 game he allowed 3,only 6 in the other 6,save per centage in this stretch is .958 and goals against 1.28.
Tre Altiman in LA Salle is also playing very well, the 18 year old tender has allowed 5 goals in his 4 games, and 3 were last night in a 3-1 loss in LA Salle. He has a goals against of 1.25 in those games,is 3-1 and save per centage last 4 games .966.
For the season 2.48 through 31 games played and a save percentage of .930.
Froggett for the season is 2.74 average and save percentage of .908
He has a record of 13-4-0-1,though he is 12-2-0-1 in his last 15 appearances.
He is only 17 years old, while Altiman is 18 same age as Costanzo.

I didn't see this post but I know that he recently said he's trying to ease the pressure he puts on himself. (at least that's the general idea I recall from the interview)

Didn't you post CF was getting screwed by the Nats org earlier? It's public but maybe I read it wrong.
Guess with his impressive stats you reference they may have not been, and maybe were doing the best tjey thought for the org. and the G in the moment and not screwing him over?

I guess unless he's officially released he's in the protected 50 man roster. Just in case he changes his mind again lol before the signing period closes for all teams

Another horrible game. Better off staying home instead of watching that garbage. Abraham is a frustrating player, geez, he can't take a shot without it getting blocked and is good for a few dumb penalties every game. Greentree couldn't get anything going, but he needs better linemates.

The good news is standings. Sarnia distanced itself from the Spitfires and even Niagara earned a point. Might as well tank and have the best chance at the 1st overall pick.

This team is going to struggle to win more than five games the rest of the season. Will Niagara end up passing us in the standings, we shall see, how exciting...

I have no problem with tanking but man, there is a lot of pressure on Bowler to bring in some elite talent in the OHL draft and import draft. He can't miss. If the Spitfires finish last they get the 3rd pick in the import draft. Can't miss on that pick.

Wassilyn is the expected #1 puck but Valentini and Belchetz (70 points in 28 games) are also candidates to go #1.

I don't think I can find anything positive to post about that game.

Good luck to Sarnia on their drive to make the playoffs.

Wassilyn watch continues.
That 4th goal by Sarnia is everything what's wrong with this team. Two players follow a player with the puck behind the net and Sikic is waiting 4 seconds on the other side for a wide open tap in. Winegard and Cristoforo do they not communicate?? I get it having a top 2-3 pick is important but Sarnia worked much harder and looked like they had more talent across the board tonight. The funny thing is that Sarnia could still get a better pick than Windsor. I still say everything needs to be swept Torres shouldn't be back on the bench in any capacity it's unheard of having a coach go from assistant-interim-assistant and sends a terrible message. Maybe Newbury has a future but it's getting ugly.

A few thoughts...

Goals against...

1. Moses gets behind Toure and Woodall, takes a long bomb pass, and beats Donoso with a backhander.
2. A point shot that beats Donoso. Again.
3. Again, a long bomb behind Toure/Woodall and another breakaway. Donoso almost had it but it squeezed over the line.
4. This is a complete defensive break down. Defensively, you've got Cristoforo, Spellacy, and Winegard all going man-on-man. This puts Spellacy/Wine behind the net with Cristoforo closer to the faceoff dots. The Sting player comes out from behind the net, Spellacy/Winegard both going after him. Spellacy's guy goes to the side of the net, wide open, takes the pass, and bangs it home. You could argue that Cristoforo should have turned around but he's taking his guy. Why two guys went after the puck carrier, I don't know.

- The first period was what I expected - a couple of goals, some rough stuff, penalties, that kind of thing. Props to the PK for doing what they needed with a long 5-on-3 to end the period.
- I wasn't a huge fan of the officiating, thought they took things a little personally at times, but they weren't the reason Windsor lost.
- The second period was a mess, outshot 14-4. When you kill off that big of a PK to end the first, you have to come out eager. They didn't and it cost them.
- Defensively, they have to be more aware. Toure and Woodall have the speed to get back but they weren't even aware of the players getting past them. They were each on for two breakaways.
- On the plus, Windsor knows they did this to themselves. They fully admitted it. On the negative, it's the same story over and over again.
- Donoso is a unique player in that he's good down low but he allows at least one point shot to get past him every night. Tonight was Cajkovic; looked like a harmless wrister that goes blocker side. I don't get it.
- I didn't like Toure hitting the Sting player after he scored... but I appreciate the scrum that ensued. Eichler got into a scrum later, too. Some of them are quite willing, but I wish the gloves would go flying on occasion.
- That said... Walton was challenged by McDonald in front of the penalty boxes and didn't do a thing. You could have had a square-off throw-down at center ice and really got the crowd into it. Instead, nothing. Nope, don't like that.
- Star Wars night. Great for those who enjoy it. Meh for the rest. I'm more meh but I appreciate the magnitude.

A couple of days off and then head up to Sarnia for a Sunday evening tilt. If you don't win that, it's going to be tough to make the playoffs. Which Windsor team shows up?

Somewhere
Christo was on the ice for the first goal. I remember that cause he spent about 5-10 sec adjusting his helmet after he got hit by his bench. And by adjusting I’m talking about taking off a glove and undoing his chin strap and then fixing helmet and then doing everything up again. By time he was done play was going other way and they scored.
