Just an update post-game from Torres - they're going to know more about Davis' injury hopefully tomorrow. "It doesn't look good" is the term he used.

Ok so another shit show. Nice to see some fire tho. Im told Davis is dislocated shoulder. Race to the bottom!! Heard a few comments directed bowlers way. He didnt look amused.

Too bad about Davis, has had an excellent season, great pick in the 4th pick.
I figured it was a shoulder or broken collarbone.

I am not concerned about Davis being out the rest of the season. It is what it is. I just hope he is fully healthy when NHL teams have prospect camps. Not sure if he will be drafted, but he will get an invite.

Agree re your 1st sentence, would not be surprised if picked in the 6 or 7th round in upcoming NHL draft.

This horrible season just needs to end my goodness. The good news is the worst is over.

They have so many 2nds. The Spitfires will have 3 of the top 23 picks in this year's draft, and probably the 6th overall pick in the import draft. They have another 3 2nds in next year's draft. They don't need to make 3 2nd round picks again in the 2025 draft. Time to start bringing in some talent with all these picks acquired. I would trade 2 of the 2025 2nd's.

Next year more than half of the conference will be in sell mode, you can acquire good players for reasonable prices Maybe look to acquire a good '06. Maybe a similar deal like when Saginaw brought in Height from Barrie for picks.

Bringing in a top European defenseman that is drafted by an NHL team and a solid OA d man can help big time. Woodall looks really good, he will only get better. Cristoforo should improve with better coaching. Tough news on Davis. I think he showed enough to get drafted.

Ok, some thoughts...

Goals against...

1. A nice move by the Steelheads in tight, getting through the D, but you can't have two guys touching the puck around the blue and not running them over.
2. A shot from the slot that Donoso gets a piece of... but not enough.
3. Toms giveaway in the slot, they take the puck and beat Donoso with a weak glove shot.
4. Bouncing puck at the Miss blue line leads to a breakaway. Just...
5. One, two, three whacks at the puck while Donoso tries to keep it out during a PP.
6. Bad pass at the Miss line and it's a breakaway. Again...

- Maybe one of the most boring opening 40 minutes I've seen in quite some time. No energy (from either club), no cohesion, no nothing.
- Being down 3-0 can't happen when you're a snapped fiber from being out of the playoffs.
- They started to find their groove a bit in the second (despite the snoozefest) but that goal late in the frame was a killer.
- Ivankovic played well for Missy. He didn't have to make a ton of great saves but 30 saves is 30 saves.
- Donoso with another mixed-bag kind of game. He makes some great saves then allows stuff you're not sure about. This wasn't on him by ANY stretch, though.
- I don't know what was going on with Toure but he looked angry from the second period onwards. There were a couple of incidents where he had to be held back, which seemed very unlike him. He usually laughs things off.
- That said... Toure/Chiarot was fun. Just about everyone knew it was coming. A buddy of mine had a better angle of the box than I did and "they were screaming at each other the whole time (before the fight)."
- I don't know who it was on Missy that poked at Toure when the linesmen were down but that set off the Eichler stuff (from what I've seen on replay). I'm sure the league will watch the video and figure out if two games is justified. You could make an argument both ways.
- McDonnell was looking for stuff earlier in the game, even from Toure, but couldn't find it. He's always been a thorn-in-your-side type guy against Windsor so nothing unexpected. He pulled Cristoforo from the scrum and got him in a headlock. Props to Cristoforo for tackling him; what else was Cristo supposed to do? "Thank you sir, may I have another"? Two each for roughing works.
- I didn't notice the Davis hit until I watched the replay a bit ago. Hopefully he's not seriously hurt and can return this season. That really sucks.

Time to get ready for the northern swing. This could determine the playoffs or not. Windsor's magic number is five - any combination of five Windsor lost points and Flint gained points puts the Spitfires out of the playoffs. Dun dun dun...

Playoffs????

So the number is now 6 points from an end to a real tough season. The road trip this weekend will be very close to being the demise of the Spits. Likely will be without Eichler for the first 2 games with the second man being called yesterday. Only hope is 1 of those teams takes the Spits lightly. I'm sure Sudbury and the Soo will look for the grudge game after losing their last games to the Spits.

You can tell systems have been non existent lately. Greentree, Davis, Abraham and Spellacy all try to skate the puck through 3 and 4 players without ever considering passing. There is zero system on zone entry. I've seen Peewee games with more passing. The need for a skilled head coach is a paramount. You can have all the draft picks in the world but if you don't have a head coach that teaches and holds them accountable you will never have success.

A lot needs to happen this off season to put this awful season behind them. Bowler this is on you.

Christoforo with a big step forward in that game. He has been called "soft" on here but that was not the case yesterday with a solid take down. He needs to play more like that. Own the moment and own the front of the net. Be safe.

Need to find a Goalie. Donoso will be gone (good riddence), and I have lost confidence in Costanzo.

Not saying hiring Newbury was right, but he may have been the only one that would take the job.

Playoffs????
For real. That’s what I was thinking. Flint and Sarnia play each other twice, so there’s that problem for the Spits but even if Flint lost all 9 of their remaining games in regulation Windsor would have to go at least 6-2-1 over their final 9 to get in. If ANYBODY wants to gamble on them picking up 6 or more wins the rest of the way, please PM me!!!

I was told at the deadline the Spits improved their goaltending when they picked up Donoso.....
