I'll defer to the officials.
Just realized the officials did not call it a hit to the head, they called it blindsiding. So I will also defer to the officials. Didn't hit him in the head, but hit a guy who didn't see him coming. That I agree with.

Dionicio is a repeat offender so I expect a suspension
-3 games on Oct 22 for cross-check to the face of Zack Filak
-6 games on Nov 11 for the hit to the head of Alec Belanger
-8 games last Mar 17 for hit to the head of Jacob Frasca

Total of 17 games on 3 infractions

We don’t need people giving us the injury list in the Knights thread and whining that you should have won. I think you guys have a better full roster but every team gets bad injury luck some years.

Then go complain over there lol

I don't think you'll find many here going "you won BUT we had four out so HA!" It's more "yeah, that was fun but I'm eager to see full rosters." Let's face it... if London was out Diaco, Barkey, Mailloux, and Paris, I'd probably say the same thing.

If that hit warrants a suspension the league has gone to complete garbage. Might as well make it non-contact. League has turned into a joke. Looking like another decimated lineup for the next few games.

We’d probably get something like the best ability is availability! But whatever they can only play the roster they get in front of them and we’ll see how the rest of the year goes.

OHL officials are pretty consistently not very good at their job. Every single person on this entire website, no matter which team you follow, has seen that first hand countless times I'm sure
That probably explains why Ottawa 67s PxP radio announcer Kenny Walls goes off on the OHL officiating every when a missed or controversial called is made.

Well I thought it was good game. Fans were pumped. Hunter teaches his kids to play on the edge and they are very successful at it.

Never saw the hit so I will defer to the league office. Doesn't matter what any of us think. They get the final say.

Thank goodness London's powerplay sucks. Game score stayed close because they are brutal on the
PP. Can't keep giving them chances though. Even a blind squirrel finds the odd nut.

Teams looked evenly matched last night but next game maybe Spits get the edge, who knows.
London looks like it lacks in star power but Hunter always gets his teams playing at a high level. I mean if you don't hustle for the Hunters your off to Siberia.

I still think Sarnia is the team that both Windsor and London want to avoid in the second round. More reason to want to end up in first.

Said this weekend was a tougher one then last weekend so not holding out hope with a tired team going into Saturday. If they win that one it will be a gut check win.

GO SPITS GO!!!

Windsor was fortunate to gain a point last nite.
Any point is a good thing this late in the season.
Scored on their limited chances.
Joey played very well.
lots of passengers on the ice. selfishness by some players refusing to pass the puck, trying to be the hero.
big crowd for the game.
Windsor pp was good last nite
London had the puck the majority of the game.
Windsor lucky London pp sucked last nite for sure.
Windsor got pushed around again. Very little physicality play by Windsor again. Normal I guess.
Lots of line juggling. Typical Savard.
When is the defense going to wake up and actually play better?

I don't disagree with most of that. I think the juggling was a bit more acceptable last night though. We dressed 11 Forwards, only 10 saw (consistent) Ice Time. London definitely maintained control, I was however impressed with the Defense last night, for the most part. Playing with 5 Men, being out what I would say Our Top 2, for most of the game. London maintained control for the majority of the game and forced Windsor to play defense. With what we were working with, I wasn't upset.

The lack of physicality is frustrating. I understand its not 2004, but everyone in the lineup aside from Jodoin and Dionicio look afraid to make a hit. I'm not saying let's drop the gloves every other play, but just laying in the body into opponents will have them thinking twice about playing along the boards.

Expecting a lesson from Flint on that tonight.

Did anyone see who it was that stepped between Jodoin after the check from behind in the first? I typically respect standing up for your teammates, but if someone went after Jodoin… would've evened out the play with an instigator and wouldn't have counted towards Jodoin's fight count. Sold Out crowd and a Jodoin fight with minor risk, let that play, play out.

Special Teams have improved significantly, and Wright's defensive abilities surpass the offense he adds, in my opinion. Smith could learn a thing or two. He's still constantly the last guy back, and often just aimlessly moving around in the rare time he's in the defensive zone. Good shot, and has physical capabilities, just seems… disinterested.

That was a better game plan then we have seen in the past. Little bit More caution from our players which was nice to see some defense. But still was not enough to pull out the Win, Was a better performance for sure though but not the result we wanted or needed. Still a lot of room to improve and need to see more consistency from most players. cant have half the team as passengers or non existent in some games, have to find ways to impact the game in other ways, Physically or Defensively. Doesn't need to be said, but Huge two points tonight needed, Onuska needs to be good, and the players in front of him as well!.

Go Spits!!!

Don't tell the Knights fans that, they told me on their board they were missing key guys too, umm no they weren't.
Ryan Del Monte out with hip surgery and high ankle sprain sustained at World Juniors. I get you might mot have caught that, we only had him.on the roster for a few games before he was injured.

But we dont use him as an excuse.

Im certainly not demeaning your team, legit contenders for sure. This would be a great series if they meet.

Ok genius remind the folks how London did in the 1st round of the playoffs last year against Kitchener.
Maybe if you had finished higher, ie 1st perhaps you might have won.
Teams want to finish 1st for home ice rights throughout the playoffs
Maybe if our goalie wasnt injured and came back too soon, maybe if we had any depth beyond the two scoring phenoms. If only the refs didnt call penalties on us. If only the league head office could tilt the ice in our favour.... 😁

Kitchener came back from 3 games down. Good on them.

It was a 2 vs 7 series. We had home ice advantage.

Its a game. It happens.

The Spitfires this year remind me of Leafs teams in recent years. Offensively great in a regular season but average goaltending sub par defense and way too soft to get into a heavy series. The Leafs know that and have tried super hard to apply grit in their line-up. The Spits have Spellacy and Sobolev leading in the hits and both injured. I expect Greentree to apply that big frame more physically. Yes he is a rookie but so is Spellacy. Smith should play way more tough overall. Watching the game back Cristoforo interview said we "Dionicio and me like to play offense" well you you gotta a D pairing both thinking & speaking offense first and we wonder why coaching would pair them then?? We need to put our big boy pants on for the playoffs. Not sure our roster can do that. Maggio shawdowed last night and in recent games vs the East and he gets shutdown. The word is out play windsor tough and they will go quiet. Right now half the teams scare me big time thinking about a series match-ups.

Both London and Windsor are very good teams. Injuries happen to every team. It is frustrating, but not an excuse. I expect 1st place to be settled on the last weekend of the season. London is currently on a long road trip, which they will have to work through.

Personally, I don't see a London - Windsor matchup in the Conference final. I see either Windsor - Sarnia or London - Sarnia. This is why finishing 1st in the Conference is crucial. I am thankful that Windsor built enough of a lead over Sarnia so that barring a complete melt down by Windsor, Sarnia won't catch them.

LOL, Del Monte has 37 points in 100 career OHL games. And that's 1 player. Spitfires were missing 5 regulars including 4 top players.

Well nice to see Donicio will not be suspended after last night's expulsion from the game proves one the on ice officials got it wrong, with Dionicio 's past if they were correct a suspension would have been dealt out,it was not a head check and video clearly showed that it wasn't.
Nice break London got on that play,Windsor's best Dman since the trade deadline, defensively and having 29 points in 23 games since arriving, 3 players, including Abraham and Harrison and Dionicio point plus per game players and the team's best defensive D Sobelev out huge factor Windsor didn't get 2 points in the game last night,London didn't have btw any point plus per game players out,or 2 D-men in their top 3 missing, just role players big difference out ,2 of them,Sim and DelMonte.
Factors are different then excuses, hockey people know that, most London fans dont or wont acknowledge it
Moving on.

Knights also a tired team playing in Sarnia tonight. Spits win in Flint and Knights lose in Sarnia and it's all tied in points again. Knights are 1 week into a 3 week road stretch vs tough teams, so like Spits chances of finishing 1st.

Wasn't called as head check, called a blindside.

Well spun my friend. You have earned a point on the imaginary blackboard.

I still think it would be an entertaining series, factors or not.

Why do some keep speaking of a head check. The call was BLINDSIDING

Why do some keep speaking of a head check. The call was BLINDSIDING
There was never a concern for a head check

Despite the term blindsiding used had contact actually occurred with the head a suspension would have been handed out, usually when a guy is blindsided head contact usually occurs, seen it called both ways ,either way no suspension.

Yes, the Blindsiding has been established... once or twice. My guess is he made a typo. It happens.

Good to see Dionicio didn't get suspended.

Onto Flint tonight...
Noticed on Spits website that neither Alec Stewart or Cole Davis are listed, but dman Carson Woodall is wearing #24.
Makes me wonder if Windsor is dressing 9F and 7D tonight, and if they are I could see Abraham going in and Wright going out.
Stewart and Davis could play but they played Wed with their B teams, last night here in Windsor, if either play tonight cant play 4 in a row when Windsor plays Sarnia tomorrow, plus La Salle scheduled to play Sunday in La Salle.
Like I said speculation on my part

I'd imagine Woodall would have been brought up if Dionicio was suspended. I don't know if he'll still play or not, esp given LaSalle's schedule.
