WINDSOR
Standard 2 game suspension. Nothing on video showed different than call first made on ice as 5 min slew. It is what it is. Intentional or not it had the general appearance of leg behind player and arm across chest. Be more careful, use the shoulder as you should and that call never happens.

It was reviewed and I was told video showed nothing definite so the call on the ice stood, was reviewed again by league off ice official still couldn't find definite slew foot.
Will let you remain your usual rigid self.
My view no suspension especially in this day and age, years ago I get it,now no,especially no injury on the play even more compelling.
So they went by the 4 officials on ice call, and subsequent post game point of view after discussion?
Seems fair if video wasn't available and the only way to go about it.
But at least there is one more factor Spits must overcome these next 2 games. That being you disagree with the call.

Well if there is no clear view of the slewfoot then i can say there is no proof he didn’t do it. Lets stop complaining about such stupid things. Hopefully this doesn’t turn into a factor if spits lose 1 of these 2 games.

Other than Spellacy getting more ice time ( good thing) should not be much of a "factor".

Do we start looking at the D coach and his ways??? This is getting to the point we need to look at other reasons than the players! I know Delmore is a great guy but??? Kinda like the PP, id that the O coach or head coach on this team. Two glaring areas that if improved on would be huge for the team. Im only asking the questions lets have a discussion.

To be fair It's a competitive league, goals are going to be allowed. Saginaw is 4th in the league in goals. At the end of the day they only allowed three goals. Some expect too much. They play an offensive-minded game, this will lead to chances allowed. Also, the Spits power-play ranks 3rd in the league and will only get better now that you have Shane Wright.

If it wasn't for Oke, they could have scored 6-8 goals. It was the best goaltending performance I've seen against the Spitfires all season. The top line created a prime scoring chance in pretty much every shift.

Nice division win. 4 point lead in division with game in hand and now leading conference. Good job boys.
Agreed, nice conference win too,now have taken over 1st place in the conference from London,54 points to 53,though London has a game in hand.
Solid game by Costanzo, unreal game from Oke score easily could have 9 or 10 to 3 were it not for him.
13 of 17 skaters for Windsor picked up at least a point in the game, with 2 by Harrison and Greentree,I say 17 skaters dressed because Spits didn't replace Smith with another player tonight.
Only players without a point were,DeAngilis, Jodoin,Castle and Spellacy.
Spits are now 20-0-0-0 when leading after 2
Spits are now 14-2 in their last 16 games,Costanzo 8-0 on this stretch
3-0 at home and 5-0 on road
Costanzo and Spits have won 3 straight vs Saginaw, and Costanzo has allowed 9 goals in the process, dont think he has played poorly vs Saginaw as mentioned on here.
With Mintyukov gone from Saginaw I dont see them catching and passing Windsor ,they now trail by 4 points and Windsor has a game in hand.
Windsor continues to lead the O in goals for with 173,which is an average of 4.675 per game, last season at this time 38 games played and 11 games past trade deadline compared to 2 Windsor was averaging 4.21 goals per game.

Harrison/Maggio/Wright are going to be deadly once they hit their stride. My goodness.
Agreed no doubt, in fact here are the numbers for the 5 guys we have picked up in the last week or so
Harrison 5GP- 4G,4A,8 Pts
Dionicio 4GP- 1G,5A,6 Pts
Wright 2GP- 2G,1A,3 Pts
Holmes 5GP-0G, 3A,3 Pts
Castle 4GP-0G, 0A,0 Pts

I feel sorry for the young players dealt in the trades for the above,Miedema, O'Flaherty and Ride.
Here are their totals as Kingston and Niagara are really struggling.
Miedema-3GP-0 0 0 4 Pim and -6
O'Flaherty 6GP-0 1 1 7 Pim and -3
Ride -6GP- 0 0 0 2 Pim and-4
All 3 were great kids here and there was
definitely alot of sadness when they left
I wish them all well.

Well said. TY.

The best offensive team, top 3 in the West added 2 top 5 available offensive Fs. one of which was a U20 HC captain.
Also added 2 D......
Gotta be the favs moving forward in the West. Exciting times n big expectations. Id guess bigger than last year where they finished 1st, and didn't go all in.

Going to be a good ride for the Spits fans unless the group doesn't get to ohl finals but i think they will. Adding 2 Fs more talented than any1 on the roster previous should boost the team. (Seen Maggio n Harrison up cloe in MM n it wasnt close thou things can change. Wright is obviously the best talent so I left him out) Great additions up front.

I’m not sold on Castle yet but he looks like a decent depth piece with potential. Stats don’t tell the whole story, but 4games without a point on this offense is fishy. Not concerning, but a little off. Hopefully he can get it going. Seems like he may be struggling to find chemistry or the change in systems a bit. Not much of a physical presence from what I’ve gathered but decent speed and positioning. Hope he can get a little stronger on the puck. A former OHL 1st round pick which shows someone saw something, but he seems to be struggling to put it altogether here, but a small sample. Luckily he's not needed as a key piece. Anything he adds is a bonus, but after Erie if hes pointless, I'm bumping spellacy to line 3.

I expected that from Ride and O Flaherty, Niagara is a mess right now. Trades are apart of hockey, but going from a, "Lets Win This Thing" to the Niagara situation has to be so disheartening. 8-1 L vs the Petes tonight. 6 Losses in a Row, only 2 wins out of their last 10… 8 wins all year. They’re averaging 4.97 goals against. I hope they can improve a bit just for the sake of those kids.

Meidema I expected to be a little more active with more ice. I’m sure he’ll adapt.

Who would have guessed 4-3 would’ve been a goalie showdown lol. Oke was fun to watch and Costanzo played a solid game as well.

Costanzo gave up 3, I thought he looked sharper Thursday, but he hung on for the W.

As noted Spirit are 4th in league scoring; also 2nd in conference. Averaging 3.97GF/per game. Held them under tonight. While d was out of position a lot, I’ve noticed a lot more blocked shots lately. Guys stepping up, helps big time.

If Joey says he’s good, I’m still tossing him out there tomorrow. Give him the full week rest after, push Michelone/Onuska Thursday Vs Erie, back to Costanzo for the big game vs Barrie Saturday.

I'm not worried about Castle. He's not here to light it up. If he gets 10 goals in the second half, that's great.

As far as Miedema/O'F/Ride go - it's going to take time for them to adjust. You don't go from a championship contender to complete rebuild and put up points right away. They'll be just fine.

As for tomorrow - go with Costanzo if he's able. He's done nothing to show that he can't handle it, so far.

Agree about Castle.
A couple of reasons why I would start Michelone this afternoon is one, despite not having played a game yet in the O this year,Michelone of his 10 appearances was 3-1 on the road in 4 games, allowed only 8 goals,in fact had a shutout in one of those 4,put up an average of 2.01 in those road games and a save percentage of .943.
He has played great in La Salle this season so far going 10-2-1,a goals against average of 2.35 and a save per centage of .929.
He has been with almost a week, traveled with them, and with the unknown time that Onuska will be away why not start him,he will be rested unlike all the other guys including Costanzo, and I am quite if Onuska were available he would have been starting vs London.
Now do I think Michelone will get the start no,but Savard has surprised me before much to my chagrin,ie not rewarding Costanzo after a big win by starting him back to back, this is different and I admit if Michelone had a terrible road record and goalie numbers to match I wouldn't propose those,I am a big believer in circumstances and past performances as this is one of them imo.
Should mention regardless who starts today, Costanzo starts Thursday at home vs Erie, and again Saturday at Barrie, with the game on Sunday in Oshawa going to Michelone assuming Onuska is still out of lineup,if Onuska is back then he starts.

I like the fact that someone has been showing 74 how to throw a check! Did you see him drop the Saggy Player when he tried to come across the blue line with the puck! Nice to see a guy of his size unafraid to hit, ala Ellis.
Keep it up Cristo! You are going to go far in this league!
